While traveling in Gyeongju, I really wanted to enjoy a proper swimming pool, so

I visited Sonocam Gyeongju Pool & Spa!

It was said to be renovated in 2025, so

I had incredibly high expectations after seeing photos on Instagram 👀

To cut to the chase, I'd recommend it for family trips with children,

but if friends or couples are going purely for a water play experience,

it might leave a little to be desired.

You can use the resort's parking lot.

We checked in around 4 PM, so

we just quickly dropped off our bags and headed straight down to the Pool & Spa.

As we took the elevator down to the basement floor,

we could already see the pool!

Up until that point,

I was saying, "Wow, this place is really beautiful!" and my excitement was through the roof haha.

Operating Hours & Pricing

The important thing here is that

operating hours vary by season!

For the high season, it operates as:

✅ Indoor Pool & Spa: 09:00~21:00

✅ Outdoor Pool & Spa: 10:00~21:00

✅ Sauna: 07:00~22:00

During the low season, indoor and outdoor pool hours are a bit shorter, so

checking before your visit is a must!

The price... honestly, it wasn't on the cheap side 😭

The regular high season price is:

Adult: ~$44 / Child: ~$33

That's why, rather than paying the full price,

What I Expected vs. What It Was Actually Like

Honestly, I saw it on Instagram Reels

and had really high expectations...

(Everyone does, right..?)

When I saw it in pictures, the waterways seemed to stretch out long

and it looked incredibly vast, like an overseas resort.

But when I actually went, it was a little different from what I expected.

What I found most disappointing was

the water depth and the water play area.

Since there were winding waterways outdoors,

I expected it to feel like a lazy river,

but in reality, the water depth is quite shallow!

Rather than a space for swimming around,

it felt more like a place for kids to splash and play!

The waterways were also broken in places,

so I thought, "Hmm, there's not as much to do as I expected?"👶

If you're with kids, it's a different story.

However, if you think about it the other way,

it's a great setup for families with kids!

Even the deepest part is only about 1m 20cm, so the water isn't deep,

and there are many shallow areas perfect for children to play.

Especially if you rent a cabana,

Water play → Snacks → Rest → More water play

I thought spending a whole day like this would be quite enjoyable.

If you're a family with preschoolers or young children,

you might actually love it!

What I unexpectedly loved was the sauna.

The place we ended up staying longer than expected was the sauna.

After a bit of water play, warming up in the dry sauna

felt great~

Rather than visiting just for the pool,

thinking of it as a water play + sauna + relaxation course

might make it a bit more worthwhile🍜

Snack Bar & What to Bring

And what's indispensable after water play is, of course, food, haha.

We ordered food from the snack bar.

The prices, as expected for a resort, weren't cheap😢

but the taste was good.

Be sure to pack a waterproof pouch in advance..!!

We forgot ours and bought one on-site,

and the price literally brought tears to my eyes...😭

One beach towel is provided per person,

and additional rentals incur a fee.

Also, inner tubes and water guns are not allowed!

The showers are equipped with shampoo, body wash,

disposable shower towels, and more.

There are also plastic bags available for wet swimwear,

which was a convenient touch💡

So, if I were to go again?

Like the images I saw on Instagram,

If you're heading there expecting a massive waterpark, you might find yourself a little underwhelmed.

Especially if you're paying the full ticket price,

the value might not feel quite up to par!

BUT, if you're on a family trip with little ones,

that's a whole different story!

With shallow water and plenty of spots to relax in a cabana,

it seemed absolutely perfect for families to splash around and unwind!

Best of all, having your accommodation and water fun

all in one place is definitely the biggest plus!!

Instead of just hopping from one tourist spot to another in Gyeongju,

why not spend the morning sightseeing and then dedicate your afternoon to splashing and relaxing at Sono Calm Gyeongju Pool & Spa?
