Sono Calm Gyeongju Review: Lake View Family Room

I recently went on a 3-day, 2-night trip to Gyeongju with my dad!

After spending so much time trying to choose the perfect place to stay,

we ended up staying here, and the verdict is: we absolutely loved it!

The layout features one living room and one bedroom,

and with 3 beds in total (1 double, 2 singles),

there's more than enough room for a family of 3 to 4.

Plus, since it has been less than a year since they reopened after a full renovation,

the entire resort—starting right from the lobby—felt incredibly luxurious and spotless.

Today, I'll be sharing my personal review of

the Family Room Lake View

that I stayed in!

Check-in Tips

Check-in at Sono Calm Gyeongju starts at 3:00 PM.

If you arrive before then, you can grab a waiting number from the front desk.

From 3:00 PM onward, they hand out room keys sequentially based on your number.

Since you'll still have to wait even if you get there super early,

arriving about 10–15 minutes beforehand is the sweet spot.

I arrived at the lobby at 2:50 PM, got my ticket,

and waited for about 15–20 minutes.

When they handed over the room key, they mentioned that while cooking is allowed in our room,

a rice cooker wasn't provided.

(If you absolutely need a rice cooker, try asking for one during check-in!)

Family Room Lake View Review

We were assigned to room 318.

As soon as we walked in, it had that fresh, brand-new feel, which was amazing.

You know that proud feeling you get when you travel with your parents

and the place turns out to be top-notch?

There's a veranda overlooking Bomun Lake,

and the living room is equipped with two super single beds.

At many resorts, the balconies are often neglected and dusty,

but here at Sono Calm Gyeongju,

the balcony was pristine!

And the lake view was absolutely stunning.

My dad couldn't stop looking out the window, morning and night.

Looking down from the balcony,

you can see the outdoor hot spring pool.

I was honestly blown away by how nice it looked...

If you're traveling with kids, I highly recommend visiting the outdoor hot spring!!!

For us, they gave us a 30% discount coupon for the indoor sauna,

so my dad and I ended up enjoying that instead.

The living room has blackout curtains,

so you don't have to worry about the bright morning sun waking you up.

I personally prefer lightweight blankets,

so the bedding felt slightly heavy to me,

but it wasn't uncomfortable by any means.

Across from the beds, there's a dining table for four,

a TV (which supports OTT streaming services),

and a vanity complete with a hairdryer.

The Family Room also includes an additional double bedroom.

Even though it doesn't have its own AC unit, sleeping with the door slightly ajar

let the cool air from the living room flow in perfectly.

While many other resorts tend to have traditional Ondol (floor-heated) rooms,

for travelers who prefer a proper bed,

this is going to be a fantastic option.

As you walk in from the entryway, there's a kitchen area right before you reach the living room.

It features a single-burner induction cooktop, a sink, and a refrigerator.

Since it’s been remodeled within the past year,

the kitchen felt brand new and was spotless, which I absolutely loved.

The spacious fridge was great, though there was no bottled water provided.

I thought about asking for some, but since we drink so much water anyway,

we figured we'd just buy our own. No big deal!

Scissors, a knife, cutlery, a ladle, a pot,

a frying pan, dishes, an electric kettle, etc.

It has all the basic kitchen essentials you need.

I've seen plenty of worn-out pots at other resorts,

but everything here was incredibly clean and fresh.

*Just a heads-up, the microwaves

are located in the B1 convenience store (there are 3 or 4 available to use).

There's also a roomy wardrobe!

The Family Room features one bathroom.

It was super clean and modern, which I loved.

Even for a 3-day, 2-night stay for two people,

they provided plenty of towels so we didn't run out.

The shower booth is separated,

and they provide shampoo and body wash as amenities.

Make sure to bring your own hair conditioner, toothbrush, and toothpaste!

I had a fantastic 3-day, 2-night stay here.

With its great room condition, breakfast, location, and facilities, Sono Calm Gyeongju

is highly recommended for trips with kids, parents, or the whole family!!

Since it's newly remodeled and super popular, rooms sell out quickly.
