After a fantastic swim with the kids at Songdo Halla Western Park,
we come down feeling absolutely ravenous! My stomach feels like it's glued to my back, haha!
That's when we hop on the elevator and head straight to our favorite spot.
We first discovered it through an experience group,
but now, it's our family's go-to Songdo pork ribs restaurant, Jikhwadaecheop,
every time the kids start chanting for galbi!
This was already our nth visit,
and we finally decided to try the 'Bomb Steamed Egg' that we'd been curious about!
Jikhwadaecheop at Songdo Halla Western Park: Location & Parking
Jikhwadaecheop is conveniently located on the 1st floor of Building F in the Halla Western Park commercial complex.
You can park your car in the underground parking lot, and it's right there on the 1st floor, so you won't get lost even on your first visit.
It's also close to Dalbit Festival Park Station, making it a perfect spot for festival-goers –
especially those heading to the Pentaport Rock Festival at the end of this month –
to grab a hearty meal before the show!
And here's a pro tip: the absolute best combination is to come straight down for a meal after visiting the Halla Western Park Western Spa & Pool rooftop swimming pool!
It's a truly unbeatable combo!
Ribs after swimming? Pure bliss, haha!

Jikhwadaecheop Songdo: Inside Atmosphere
The restaurant is spacious with plenty of tables,
making it ideal for family dinners or group gatherings.
It's a meat restaurant, but it even has chandeliers!
The deep green interior design gives it
a slightly more upscale feel than your average Korean barbecue joint.

If I had to mention one minor downside,
it's that it's almost always crowded during dinner hours, so you might encounter a wait.
That's why we usually try to go a bit earlier!
There's a self-serve bar where you can get more side dishes if you need them.

Basic Side Dishes

All the basic side dishes are delicious too!
There was also ganjang gejang (marinated raw crab)... but it seems I didn't get a picture.
That day, the marinated spicy crab (yangnyeom gejang) was a bit on the sweet side though!
King-sized Marinated BBQ
Pre-grilled Dakgalbi

Volcano Steamed Egg
Doenjang Jjigae
Steamed Rice
Volcano Steamed Egg

We finally got to order the Volcano Steamed Egg!
I was so curious because everyone in the reviews raved about how delicious it was.
From the moment it arrived, the visuals were absolutely extraordinary.
The *Gyeran-jjim* (steamed egg) puffed up beautifully high above the *ttukbaegi* (earthenware pot),
and it was generously topped with cheese.

When you scoop it up with a spoon, the cheese stretches endlessly,
and the kids' eyes just light up!
Traditionally, *Gyeran-jjim* is called 'Volcano Steamed Egg' because the egg mixture puffs up in the *ttukbaegi* as it cooks,
due to the air creating a voluminous effect. But here,
with the added cheese, the savory richness is truly amplified.
The cheese is incredibly thick, making it perfectly seasoned and wonderfully soft,
so the kids absolutely loved eating it with their rice.

Also, we visited on a weekend and ordered it,
but I think there might be a service coupon for the Volcano Steamed Egg on weekdays, so it's worth checking before you visit!
Doenjang Jjigae (Soybean Paste Stew) for our second child

Songdo Pork Galbi: King-sized Marinated Grilled Pork Ribs

Jikhwa Daecheop's signature dish is, of course, the King-sized Marinated Galbi.
Even ordering just two servings fills the entire grill!
The marinade isn't overly sweet and has a clean flavor without any gamey smell,
making it a flavor that both kids and adults absolutely adore.
The best combination we discovered this time was:
One piece of Galbi + A spoonful of Volcano Steamed Egg + Rice
When the savory Galbi meets the rich, cheesy steamed egg,
a bowl of rice just disappears in an instant!
If you order Galbi, definitely make sure to get some steamed rice with it.

Pre-grilled Dakgalbi

Because it's pre-grilled,
it took quite a while to come out;;; So our meat-eating flow was slightly interrupted, but... the Dakgalbi was incredibly tender and delicious!
Pork Rind

We finished up with my husband's favorite pork rind.

The pork rind was delightfully thick and delicious.
Just be careful when grilling it, as it tends to pop and crackle!

And let me tell you about the three fantastic sauces that come with it!
We're talking soybean powder, curry, and even chili (!)
Personally, I loved dipping into all three for a burst of flavor.

It was truly another happy and memorable family meal.
