Are you planning a family trip or a fun getaway with the kids to Sokcho?
Then you absolutely must visit the Sokcho Eye Ferris Wheel! It's a beloved spot for travelers, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Gangwon-do's night sea and stunning city lights from high above.
There have been rumors about its potential demolition, so it's a good idea to visit soon while you still have the chance!
I'm excited to share my top tips and review of my experience!

1. Location & Operating Hours

📍 Sokcho Eye Ferris Wheel
2 Cheonghohaean-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea
📍 Sokcho Beach
1450-158 Joyang-dong, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea
The Sokcho Eye Ferris Wheel is perfectly situated right next to Sokcho Beach, making it an ideal spot to visit both day and night. You can enjoy the ocean views while riding the Ferris Wheel, or simply take in the coastal atmosphere.
Operating hours are daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, so plan your visit accordingly!

Admission tickets are ~$9 for adults and ~$4 for children.
If you're also interested in visiting Angelus, the theme park adjacent to the Ferris Wheel, you can get a 19% discount by booking through Naver!

Personally, the theme park didn't quite catch my eye, so I opted to purchase just the Ferris Wheel ticket.
2. Parking Information

If you plan to visit during peak season, parking can be a challenge as spots fill up quickly.
📍 Sokcho Eye Ferris Wheel
2 Cheonghohaean-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea
📍 Sokcho Beach Public Parking Lot 1
1449-3 Joyang-dong, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea
📍 Sokcho Beach Public Parking Lot 2
1450-8 Joyang-dong, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea
📍 Sokcho Hangari Mulhoe (Spicy Cold Raw Fish Soup)
11 Haeoreum-ro 188beon-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea (Floors 1, 2, 3)
While there's a public parking lot right next to the Ferris Wheel, it's not very large and can quickly become full. In such cases, a handy tip is to park at the Sokcho Hangari Mulhoe restaurant's parking lot, which is also conveniently located nearby. It often offers more available space.
If you can't find a spot, I recommend using one of the locations I've shared! (Many people don't know about this convenient alternative!)
3. My Experience & Top Tips

Here's a crucial tip before you visit: as a renowned night view spot, the Ferris Wheel is absolutely stunning during sunset. The golden hour offers a far more picturesque experience than any other time of day.

Once night falls, you can witness over 30 vibrant LED light performances, truly bringing the Ferris Wheel to life.

Photos taken at night also turn out much clearer and more spectacular than during the day, perfectly capturing that amazing vacation feeling.

Therefore, I highly recommend visiting around 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM as the sun sets. This way, you get to experience both the daytime and nighttime charm, enjoying a richer and more diverse landscape!

I'd wanted to visit the Sokcho Eye Ferris Wheel on previous trips, and I'm so glad I finally did this time! It was incredibly fun.
The cabins are spacious enough to comfortably fit six people, and with air conditioning, it's a pleasant experience even during the summer months.

Undoubtedly, the views from up high – especially of the sunset and nightscape – offer a completely different charm compared to walking along the beach.
The ride lasts approximately 15 minutes, and it moves quite slowly, allowing plenty of time to soak in all the sights.
It's especially perfect for kids and families. When I visited, I saw many families enjoying themselves, which really highlighted its popularity as a family-friendly attraction.

After enjoying the incredible night views from the Ferris Wheel, you can easily transition to a leisurely stroll along Sokcho Beach, right next door, to fully immerse yourself in the enchanting night sea atmosphere.

With various art installations and well-maintained walking paths, it's a popular spot for a post-Ferris Wheel evening stroll.

I was genuinely disappointed I hadn't discovered this fantastic spot sooner!
If you're looking for an amazing night view, make sure to check out the walking path right next to the Sokcho Eye Ferris Wheel.

For an even more perfect night out, if you have a blanket, follow this itinerary: Ferris Wheel > Walking Path > Beach. Settle down with some beer and snacks by the night sea, and you'll have conquered the ultimate night view experience!
All these spots are conveniently close and easily walkable, allowing you to explore at your own pace.
4. Overall Review
After my trip to Sokcho, I can confidently say the famous Ferris Wheel is an absolute must-visit for its incredible night views!
After the ride, I soaked in the vibrant atmosphere of the night sea, and exploring the nearby walking path and beach completed a truly perfect evening itinerary.
I hope you follow my recommended itinerary to fully enjoy the beautiful and captivating night sea in Sokcho!
