I heard the Sindo Peace Bridge had opened and I really wanted to visit, but being tied down with Zoom lectures, I just couldn't find the time.

This past Wednesday, as soon as my lecture finished, my husband suggested we go for a drive and check it out. Even though I was completely exhausted, the thought of him taking me somewhere new had me eagerly tagging along.

Today, I'll be sharing our weekday evening drive across the Sindo Peace Bridge, our delightful dinner at Mare Table, and the picturesque views of Sindo Port.

Sindo Peace Bridge

Opened July 14, 2026, bringing Sinsimodo closer by car!

Sindo is an island, known as part of 'Sinsimodo' along with Sido and Modo. While it used to require a ferry ride, the opening of the Sindo Peace Bridge now allows direct car access from Yeongjongdo.

As we drove across the bridge and deeper into the island, the surrounding scenery gave me the feeling of cruising along the beautiful beaches of Korea's southern coast.

Getting There & Transportation

We left home around 5 PM and it took us just over an hour to get there. I'd heard the roads leading into Sindo can get quite congested on weekends, but since it was a weekday evening, our journey was relatively smooth.

We planned to have dinner right after arriving, but discovered that the island's tourist infrastructure isn't extensive, and there aren't many restaurants.

Many places close early, so if you're visiting late, it's a good idea to check restaurant operating hours in advance.

Mare Table

Originally, we intended to go to another Korean restaurant, but when we arrived, it was already closed.

Searching for somewhere to eat, we called Mare Table, and thankfully, they were still serving dinner, so we headed straight over.

📌 Mare Table Atmosphere

To get to Mare Table, you simply cross the bridge into Modo, the furthest island, then turn right and head up the hill.

Perched high up, it offers refreshing, panoramic views of the sea.

As we entered, we saw a sign indicating that the Hamburg steak was sold out – a testament to its popularity, perhaps! The interior was spacious, with ample distance between tables.

We were lucky enough to find an empty window seat, allowing us to enjoy our meal while gazing out at the beautiful ocean scenery.

Even for a weekday evening, there were quite a few customers, and all the staff were incredibly friendly. I felt like we had stumbled upon a real gem, even without doing any prior research!

There are also small tables outdoors, perfect for sitting outside and admiring the sea views during the cooler seasons.

Seafood Arrabbiata Soup Pasta & Snow Cheese Donkatsu

The menu offers a wide variety, including donkatsu, Hamburg steak, pasta, and salads, with most dishes priced around ~$7.

We ordered the Seafood Arrabbiata Soup Pasta (~$11) and the Snow Cheese Donkatsu (~$11).

For the Seafood Arrabbiata Soup Pasta, they asked if we were okay with a spice level similar to Yeol Ramen (a famously spicy Korean ramen), so we requested it to be made a little less spicy.

The Seafood Arrabbiata Soup Pasta was generously packed with seafood, including shrimp, mussels, and clams. The rich, slightly soupy broth was both spicy and deeply flavorful.

The Snow Cheese Donkatsu is a generous serving of donkatsu topped with a mountain of cheese. The ample cheese, along with the sauce, rice, and salad, made for a truly satisfying meal.

With complimentary pre-meal bread and soup, the food tasted great, and the prices were very reasonable, which I really appreciated.

If you're looking for a wonderful place to dine on Modo, this spot comes highly recommended!

Sindo Ferry Terminal & Waterfront Park

After our meal, we tried to go to Sugihang Beach, but there was no parking, so we turned back.

I then became curious about how the ferry terminal looked after the Sindo Peace Bridge was built, so I stopped by Sindo Ferry Terminal.

There were many people fishing around the ferry terminal. Before the bridge opened, this was an important gateway to and from Sindo, but now it's filled with a somewhat melancholic atmosphere.

Next to the ferry terminal, a waterfront park has been created for walks along the sea. The entire promenade is about 1.65km long, and the sign indicated it takes approximately 25 minutes to walk.

As the sun began to set, the sea and mudflats were bathed in a golden glow. The sunset, coupled with airplanes constantly flying overhead, created a magnificent scene.

To fully enjoy the mudflats and sea views, be sure to check the tide times and sunset schedule before your visit.

Shiny Days' Takeaway

While it may not yet boast an abundance of attractions and amenities, it offered the unique feeling of an exotic island getaway close to home.

I'd love to go back and explore Sinsimodo more leisurely once the weather cools down.
