Seonjaedo Drive
Must-Visit Spots on Seonjaedo Island

Hello, Global Explorer here! ☀️
When you think of Seonjaedo Island, Ppeoldabang Cafe is often one of the first places that comes to mind.
It's so famous that, honestly, I initially thought it was just another popular, large-scale cafe. But once you visit, you'll understand why people keep coming back year after year.
Its unique, exotic landscape right by the sea offers countless photo opportunities, and if you time the tides right, you can even walk to Mokseom Island.
My spouse and I have visited, and we've also brought our parents, who absolutely loved it. So, I'm excited to share this spot as a top drive course for Incheon's islands. 😊

Ppeoldabang Cafe Location |
Ppeoldabang Cafe is located right at the entrance to Seonjaedo Island, just after you cross the Seonjae Grand Bridge from Daebudo Island.

There's a dedicated parking lot right across the street, so you can park your car and simply cross the road to reach Ppeoldabang Cafe.
However, there's one thing you should be prepared for.
To get to Seonjaedo Island, you first have to pass through Daebudo Island, and traffic can get extremely heavy on weekends and holidays.
If you've ever driven to Daebudo, you know what I mean! 😂
Especially if you plan to visit Mokseom Island according to the tide schedule, I highly recommend leaving with plenty of extra time.
If you're visiting Ppeoldabang Cafe, it's a fantastic idea to combine it with a trip to Mokseom Island, which is right in front of the cafe.

You can't always walk to Mokseom Island; the sea path only appears during low tide when the water recedes.
Before your visit, make sure to check the tide chart for 'Seonjaedo' on Badatime.com and confirm the low tide times.
It's important not to rely solely on the low tide time!
The time the sea path appears varies by date, and the water comes back in surprisingly quickly. So, observe the local conditions and allow plenty of time for your return. The sand is firm, so you can easily walk without special boots.
From the beginning of the sea path to Mokseom Island, it's approximately 0.3 to 0.4 miles (500-600 meters), taking about 15-20 minutes one way. Be sure to keep track of time and return safely. 🙏

When we visited at low tide, it was incredible to see the path to Mokseom Island completely revealed through the mudflats.
If you plan to visit Mokseom Island, you can park at the Ppeoldabang Cafe parking lot. It's free on weekdays and 3 hours free on weekends.
Inside Ppeoldabang Cafe |
The atmosphere here is simply incredible! You'll love it. 😄

It's designed with a Cuban concept, featuring palm roofs, colorful decorations, seemingly weathered tables, and surfboards. It genuinely feels like you've been transported to a warm tropical country like Southeast Asia or Cuba.
What truly sets it apart is its direct beachfront location. It's a completely different vibe from a typical indoor cafe where you just sip coffee.

On a beautiful day, simply sitting outside and gazing at the ocean is wonderfully relaxing.
And there are so many fantastic photo spots!

My spouse and I took tons of pictures when we went, and when we brought our parents, they enjoyed it even more than we expected. We snapped photos of them all over the place, and the exotic backdrop made for truly stunning pictures. 😊

That's why I'd recommend this spot not just for dates, but also for family outings with parents or even kids.
It's incredibly kid-friendly too!
The cafe is right on the beach and mudflats, so during low tide, you'll often see children playing in the sand and mud.

Since many people venture into the mudflats, the cafe even provides a convenient foot washing station.
There are also quite a few indoor seating options. While we've visited multiple times when it was busy, we've never had trouble finding a spot to sit.

Just a heads-up, if you arrive later in the day, some bread options might be sold out. 🙁
Overall Review |
When you're looking to escape the city and enjoy some fresh air near Seoul, Seonjaedo Island is a fantastic destination for a drive.
Ppeoldabang Cafe, in particular, is more than just a place to grab coffee. It's a perfect spot to enjoy the sea views, take stunning photos, and if the tides align, even walk across to Mokseom Island – a truly golden combination!
It's a versatile destination that's great for couples, parents, or families with children, so you won't have to overthink who to bring along.
If you have more time, extending your drive all the way to Yeongheungdo Island is also a wonderful option.

Try to leave a bit early if possible to catch the low tide for Mokseom Island. I highly recommend this as an Incheon island drive course! 🌊
Ppeoldabang operates from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM on weekdays (last order at 6:00 PM), and from 10:00 AM to 7:30 PM on weekends and public holidays (last order at 7:00 PM). Parking is available at the large parking lot across the street. It's free on weekdays, and free for the first 3 hours on weekends and public holidays.
You can only walk to Mokseom Island when the tide recedes and the sea path is revealed. Therefore, before your visit, you must check the low tide times for 'Seonjaedo' on the 'Badatime' website. The one-way walk from the beginning of the sea path to Mokseom Island is approximately 500-600m and takes about 15-20 minutes.
To reach Seonjaedo, you must pass through Daebudo Island, which experiences severe traffic congestion on weekends and holidays. If you plan to visit Mokseom Island according to the tide schedule, it is recommended to depart with ample time, more than the estimated travel time. The sea path to Mokseom Island fills up quickly once the tide starts to come back in, so you should observe the local conditions and return with plenty of time to spare.
