Seongho Resort Gyeongju Review: Pool & Budget Stay

If you've been looking into accommodations for your Gyeongju trip

and ended up checking out Sungho Resort,

you're probably wondering, "Is it actually good value for money?"

"Are the facilities worth the price?"

I visited Sungho Resort myself last autumn,

and it was one of those places where I thought, "Next time, I'm absolutely coming back to swim!"

It really left a great impression.

With the summer peak season just around the corner,

I've put together all the essential info you need to know before booking—

especially details on how to make the most of their awesome pool!

Gyeongju is packed with must-see spots like Bulguksa Temple, Seokguram Grotto, and Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond,

but when it comes to choosing where to stay,

it can actually be a bit of a headache.

There are just so many options!

Staying right in the city center can get pricey,

but staying too far out makes getting around a hassle...

Sungho Resort is just a 10-minute drive from Bulguksa Temple,

giving you great access to major attractions

while also saving you from parking stress thanks to its spacious parking lot.

I stayed in a Family Room Ondol (traditional Korean floor heating) in the annex,

and since the room had been recently remodeled, the walls were pristine

and the cleanliness was top-notch.

It's also a self-catering room, so bringing along a few side dishes

makes whipping up a quick meal super easy and convenient!

I did a quick price comparison for a weekday stay in August.

Trip.com had the best rate at the time,

so that's where I booked my stay.

Outside of peak season, prices drop down to around ~$32,

making it a truly incredible budget-friendly option in Gyeongju!

Since prices can fluctuate by date on different platforms,

Based on the 1-night stay from August 25th to 26th that I looked up,

free cancellation was available until August 22nd.

Even if your plans aren't 100% set in stone yet,

I'd recommend locking in the price when it's good.

When looking for Gyeongju accommodations for the peak summer season,

the number one thing people search for is definitely the pool!

And just like the basement sauna...

They even use natural hot spring water here~

Operating Period & Hours

During the peak season (including weekends), the closing time is extended to 8:00 PM,

so you can enjoy swimming well into the evening.

If you only want a quick dip in the afternoon,

there is an afternoon pass available for entry from 3:00 PM,

making it easy to fit into your plans even if you arrive late.

For reference, the pool was still open in September last year,

so I’m guessing they might run it through September this year too—

just a hunch from Ahn-Hee-Ya..!

I highly recommend checking with the resort directly for exact details.

Admission Fees (For Resort Guests)

Towels are not provided, so it's best to bring your own,

though they are available to rent on-site.

(~$1 per towel)

Swim caps, swimsuits, life jackets, and aqua shoes are required,

and life jackets are strictly mandatory for children!

According to the official guidelines,

all pool rates are listed based on resort guests.

Since there was no separate notice

regarding use by non-guests (outside visitors),

if you'd like to use the pool without staying overnight,

I recommend contacting the resort directly to confirm.

✅ Can I use the pool before check-in or after check-out?

While the pool operating hours are as shown in the table above,

whether you can use it before check-in (3:00 PM) or after check-out (11:00 AM)

may depend on

booking conditions or the resort's policy on the day.

So, once your booking is confirmed,

I'd advise double-checking with the front desk in advance.

During the July-August peak season,

especially on weekends, the pool gets very crowded

and rooms sell out incredibly fast.

If you've already decided on your travel dates,

I highly recommend booking early!

The natural hot spring sauna located in the basement

is another hidden highlight of Seongho Resort!

It's available to guests at a discounted rate (around ~$3),

and there were quite a few people

who came just to use the sauna even without staying overnight.
