Seamarq Hotel Gangneung Location | Gangneung | How to Get There

Address: 2 Haean-ro 406beon-gil, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, 25460

It's located right in front of the stunning Gyeongpodae Beach in Gangneung, Gangwon-do.

From Seoul Station, getting to Seamarq Hotel in Gangwon-do takes

about 2.5 hours by car,

or 2.5 to 3 hours by train.

depending on how you travel.

Personally, I think taking the train to Gangneung Station is way more comfortable.

The distance from Gangneung Station to Seamarq Hotel is super short,

and there are plenty of taxis available.

I also found out that the hotel offers

a free shuttle bus service!

But since I was feeling a bit lazy, I just hopped in a taxi. haha

Who packs a massive suitcase like they're going abroad

just for a quick weekend trip to Gangwon-do? 🤔

Honestly, I packed a ton too, but I totally lost to this one. lol

My goals were heron birdwatching in Gangwon-do, sea gazing,

having a relaxing staycation, and a foodie tour of Gangneung—

and I checked every single box! Check, check, check! ✅

There's a heron habitat nearby (in Yangyang...),

and while you can visit places like that,

you don't even need to go that far.

Right next to Seamarq Hotel is a lake, and oh my gosh,

there are SO many herons, birds, and fish swimming around there!

It'd be such a great spot to visit with kids.

As soon as you step off at the hotel entrance,

you're greeted by Seamarq Hotel's famous lobby.

Seriously, the architecture is absolutely breathtaking.

The way the ocean and sky pour in through those massive windows

is just stunning...! 😍

The architecture itself does all the heavy lifting! 💦💦

If you open the door and step outside the lobby,

you'll find this gorgeous terrace space. It's not a swimming pool,

just a decorative reflecting pool, but it is incredibly pretty.

If you take the stairs down from here...

It connects directly to the sea!

Check-in at Seamarq Hotel Gangneung is from

15:00 - 24:00

and the check-out time is 12:00.

I'm pretty sure we stayed in the Ocean View Gallery Double Room,

and it was incredibly spacious!!!!

First of all, the view is absolutely next-level.

Because the location of the Seamarq Hotel is so amazing,

you get a full, uninterrupted view of the Gangneung ocean

through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

I mean, since when was the East Sea in Gangwon-do this transparent

and emerald-toned...?

The space is divided in the center by a wall like this,

with a living space on the left and the bed area on the right.

In Seamarq’s Ocean View Gallery Double Room,

the window on the left opens up,

and when you step outside, you get this:

The incredibly spacious

outdoor terrace of the Seamarq Hotel.

Please, I beg you, spend at least 30 minutes

just staring at the Seamarq ocean view from here...

The sky was honestly unreal,

and the reflection of Gangneung's sky

and ocean on the window,

plus the lake view to the left...

It’s pure art.

I’m crying 😭

You absolutely must

book a room with a terrace when you visit Seamarq!

The view from inside the Seamarq room at sunset and sunrise is insane.

Honestly, it’s mind-blowing during the day too.

The Gyeongpodae sea is incredibly emerald.

You have to check the sunrise time and catch this in the morning

to truly say you've done a proper Seamarq staycation!

In the summer, you could probably jump into the nearby ocean and go snorkeling.

The water was a bit too chilly in May though;;

The Gallery Double Room at the Seamarq Hotel Gangneung was surprisingly

spacious.

It almost felt like a suite!

There’s a bathroom right near the entrance,

and the room amenities at the Seamarq Hotel Gangneung are by

Santa Maria Novella.

So cozy and fragrant.

(The hair straightener is mine, by the way;;;)

The bathroom is super spacious too...

Just lying down and looking out the window at the Seamarq Hotel view...

Pure happiness, right?

Especially the Gallery Double Room...

Lake on the left, ocean on the right.

..

It's not "blue dragon on the left, white tiger on the right" feng shui style,

but "lake on the left, ocean on the right," which made it so much more charming!

The ocean view at Gangneung Seamarq Hotel...

Even looks amazing when you're just lounging on the floor.

When I first checked into Gangneung Seamarq right at 3 PM,

I was so exhausted

that I set up my suitcase like a little table next to the bed

and drank wine while lying down.

Lying down + Wine = absolute bliss 🥂💘

By the way, completely random, but that wine was incredibly delicious!

Oh, right! I forgot to take a picture of the fridge,

but the minibar inside the room

at Gangneung Seamarq Hotel is completely free!

Free minibars are so rare in Korea, so this was such a huge plus...

When you step outside onto the 1st floor of the Gangneung Seamarq Hotel, you'll find these stairs.

The color of the ocean is absolutely insane (in the best way possible).

Doesn't it look like a painting...?

It leads right down to the beach.

You can walk straight down to Gangmun Beach and Gyeongpo Lake.

Ready to go explore the Gangneung sea?

I bet kids would absolutely love this spot.

Actually, most of the guests here

were families with young, preschool-aged children.

There's also a piano on the 1st floor of the Seamarq,

and they sometimes hold live piano performances here.

If you walk all the way down this way,

you'll find the restaurant where they serve the breakfast and dinner buffet?

I think that's what it is.

The hotel cafe and bar are also located here.

If you go up this beautiful

spiral staircase on the 1st floor of the Seamarq Hotel,

you'll reach the hotel library!

I'm a bit bummed I didn't get to check it out.

And now, the absolute pride of the Seamarq Hotel...

The outdoor infinity pool stretching out

towards the East Sea of Gangwon-do!

It really is stunning.

And so spacious!!!

Plus, it's a heated pool,

so we could swim and splash around without feeling cold at all.

Although, it was a bit sad that even staying guests have to pay an extra fee...

And that you can't use the pool after checking out...

Food, Hot Spots, and Things to Do

First of all, there's a market nearby... a fish market???

And the vibes

Are absolutely insane!

Where you can eat fresh sashimi and seafood

handpicked and prepared right on the spot

by a local halmoni (grandma).

I even got to try Ishigari (Barred-fin flounder)...?

(Apparently it's super rare and premium!)

So crunchy and delicious!

Eating at the tables is great, but

I really wanted to eat while looking at the ocean, so I asked, "Can we eat over there?"

And they kindly set us up with plastic chairs and a styrofoam box to use as a table! 😭

The water at Gyeongpo Beach in Gangneung is incredibly clear.

If it were summer, I definitely would have jumped in!

But in spring, it's still way too cold.

And since Gangneung is famous for Chodang Soft Tofu,

I had to try the Soft Tofu Gelato

and some classic Chodang Soft Tofu.

And these (?) local root vegetable-shaped breads (looks just like real potatoes and sweet potatoes!)

Then, wrap things up by spotting the herons

at Gyeongpo Lake,

and your day is absolutely perfect!!!!
