The route to Fansipan involves a monorail, cable car, and another monorail to the summit, so I'd like to guide you through this somewhat complex journey.
First, to get to Fansipan, you need to purchase tickets at Sapa Station.
Tickets can be purchased at 'Sapa Station', located inside 'Sun Plaza'.

2. Muong Hoa Station - Fansipan Station (Cable Car)
3. Fansipan Station - Summit (Monorail)
To go from Sapa Station to Fansipan, you need to purchase the three tickets mentioned above.
It is recommended to buy round-trip tickets for routes 1 and 2 (from Sapa Station to Fansipan).
For route 3 (from Fansipan Station to the summit), it's recommended to purchase a one-way ticket.

1. Sun Plaza (Sapa Station) - Muong Hoa Monorail
After purchasing your ticket, show the barcode to the staff member to enter.
The rice paddy views unfolding beside you as you ascend are truly breathtaking.
The barcode on your ticket will be used repeatedly, so make sure not to lose it.

2. Muong Hoa Station - Fansipan Station Cable Car
The barcode for your cable car ticket and monorail ticket is the same.
After getting off at Muong Hoa Station, you can either head straight up to Fansipan or explore the beautiful gardens.
Developed by Sun World, a renowned company in Vietnam for creating famous tourist attractions, it offers numerous photo zones similar to Ba Na Hills in Da Nang, and a truly majestic atmosphere.
It felt like a beautifully designed arboretum, which my parents particularly loved.

The cable car ascending to Fansipan
This cable car is incredibly spacious, fitting about 30 people!
With a cable length exceeding 6,000 meters, you'll be on board for quite some time, enjoying the ride.
Initially, I found it incredibly relaxing, gazing down at the villages and hotels below.
However, as we ascended the steep incline in the latter part, it got a little thrilling (and slightly scary!).

3. Fansipan Station - Fansipan Peak Monorail
On the monorail heading up to Fansipan Peak, the weather was so cloudy that we couldn't see anything at the summit.
However, we still saw the rock marking the altitude of 3,143m above sea level and the Vietnamese flag proudly waving.

However, the weather in Sapa town and on Fansipan can differ, so asking your hotel staff is always the best bet.
Fansipan

Upon arriving at Fansipan, this is the first gate that welcomes you.
Due to its high altitude, Fansipan often appears cloudy, regardless of the weather in Sapa town.

Even Fansipan's most famous temple pagoda was shrouded in fog
(After waiting for about 2 hours, this was the best shot I could get, unfortunately 😭)
Sapa itself is quite cool due to its altitude, but Fansipan is even higher, so it can be quite chilly.
Be sure to pack a jacket when you visit!

After exploring the temples below, you can take the monorail up to the summit.

While you *could* tackle the stairs without the monorail, with such a steep incline and high steps, it can be quite challenging and even a bit risky. For a smoother, safer ascent, I highly recommend taking the monorail up!
At the summit, you'll find markers indicating Fansipan's impressive altitude, along with beautiful monuments and towers. And if you're lucky enough to have clear weather, the panoramic views stretch incredibly far, making you feel truly on top of the world – like an immortal gazing down!

The breathtaking descent!
While there's also a monorail for the journey down, the stairs leading back often come with handrails. Take your time, hold on tight, and enjoy a careful descent!

Keep an eye out on your way down for some magnificent Buddhist statues – they add another layer of beauty to the journey.
My Takeaways

They say you need to have accumulated good karma over three generations just to witness a clear sky from Fansipan!
Sadly, a clear day eluded me during my visit.

3. Compare exchange rates between Klook and on-site ticket purchases.
4. Buy your tickets on the same day after confirming the weather.
5. Expect queues for the upward journey, so arrive with a bit of extra time to spare.
