The journey from Hanoi to Sapa by bus took a full 7 hours. Thankfully, a van picked me up from the bus station and took me straight to my accommodation. As evening approached, I decided to take a stroll near my hotel, hoping to grab a bite before bed, and that's how I stumbled upon Yummy Restaurant. My trip to Sapa was intentionally unplanned, a true 'go-with-the-flow' adventure, so I walked in without a second thought.

Yummy Restaurant Location

Yummy Restaurant is located a bit off the beaten path, about a 10-minute walk or more from Sapa's downtown core. It's situated near the KK Sapa Hotel, and I'd wager many tourists staying in this area have visited it at least once. It's one of those quietly popular spots that locals and savvy travelers love.
Be aware that the walk involves a decent uphill slope, and the alleyways can be quite narrow, so always keep an eye out for passing vehicles.

Right at the entrance, you'll notice quite a few reviews written in Korean. Looking at the recommended dishes, it's clear that you can't go wrong with anything on the list, especially classics like spring rolls, Banh Xeo, or Bun Cha.

I arrived quite late in the evening and was a little worried when I saw no other customers. But no sooner had I settled in than a steady stream of international diners started pouring through the door. It's funny how that works, isn't it? Someone just needs to break the ice, and suddenly everyone thinks, 'Oh, this must be a good spot!'
Menu

Let's take a look at Yummy Restaurant's menu. They offer sandwiches and breakfast items, making it a great spot for brunch as well.

On the right page, you'll see Yummy's 'Bestsellers' section. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything listed there; every dish is a winner.
For my very first meal in Sapa, I decided to go with the Chicken Curry in Coconut.

Bun Cha (noodles dipped in a flavorful broth), fried pork, and spring rolls are all solid, safe bets if you're looking for something reliably delicious.

I also ordered a side of Morning Glory (stir-fried water spinach) to complement my meal. And if you haven't tried Banh Xeo yet, you absolutely must! It's like a crispy, savory pancake filled with pork, bean sprouts, and various vegetables – truly incredible.

While waiting for my food, I relaxed, took a few photos, and enjoyed a can of Sprite. Fun fact: in Vietnam, what we often call 'lemon-lime soda' is almost exclusively Sprite!

And here it is: the ultimate Chicken Coconut Curry! I was actually quite surprised by its presentation – it wasn't what I expected at all. The curry is served right inside a fresh coconut! After a moment of wondering how to approach it, I simply dug in with a spoon, mixing it generously with my rice.

One of the minor downsides of solo travel is not being able to sample a wide variety of dishes at restaurants. If you order just one or two items and they don't hit the mark, it can be a real disappointment. That's why I often stick to dishes with a guaranteed deliciousness, rather than venturing into unknown culinary territory.

The portion of coconut curry is quite generous. Two people could easily share one curry and order two other dishes to have a truly satisfying and filling meal.

I mixed the fragrant white rice with the curry, and after just one bite, I was genuinely surprised.
The most shocking revelation at Yummy Restaurant wasn't the curry itself, but the rice! Yes, the rice! It was at least twice as delicious as any rice I've had back home.

Can you see that glossy sheen? This rice was incredibly sticky and perfectly chewy – absolutely divine! Out of all the rice I'd eaten during my two-month Southeast Asian adventure, this was, hands down, the best. It brought tears to my eyes! It looked similar to the sticky rice used in mango sticky rice, but the taste and texture were on an entirely different level.

To top it all off, they even served fresh watermelon and banana for dessert, bringing a perfect close to my meal. Yummy Restaurant truly lives up to its name – absolutely 'yummy, yummy!'

Without a doubt, Yummy Restaurant was one of my top three dining experiences in Sapa. Make sure to order the Chicken Coconut Curry – for the other dishes, feel free to pick whatever catches your eye!
