A review of our unforgettable stay.
Hey there, fellow travelers!
Today, I'm excited to share a detailed review of an accommodation that generated so much buzz, especially for those planning a Rome honeymoon: the fantastic apartment right in front of the Colosseum!

From the moment I first posted about booking this place, the comments and DMs poured in. After personally staying for 3 nights, I can confidently say it exceeded expectations in every aspect: location, safety, space, and facilities.
Just a heads-up: you'll typically need to book a minimum of 2 nights here!

Location, Location, Location!
📍Residenza Flavia

The apartment is literally right in front of the Colosseum. You're just a short walk past the famous bridge (a popular photo spot!) to get there, which made it incredibly convenient for exploring both morning and night.
Even though it's in the heart of a major tourist area:
✔ There's plenty of foot traffic even at night, so we felt incredibly safe.
✔ Coming back late during our honeymoon felt completely stress-free.
The Surrounding Streets

The immediate area felt very secure, and the streets were notably clean.
Room Layout|More Space Than a Hotel
The biggest selling point of this accommodation is definitely the space.
✔️Separate Entryway
There's a distinct hallway upon entering, which creates a nice separation of spaces.

✔️Separate Living Room / Bedroom Layout
With a distinct living area and bedroom, it truly feels like a suite. It's incredibly spacious!

✔️Elevator Access
Having an elevator made moving our luggage a breeze.

✔️Air Conditioning is a Must-Have for Rome Summers!
The A/C was powerful and efficient, and combined with the excellent location, it was perfect for popping back to the apartment for a cool, refreshing break during our busy days!
✔️Spacious Bathroom, Including a Bathtub
The bathroom was surprisingly large and luxurious – it felt like something out of a 5-star hotel!

This kind of layout is rare in typical hotels, offering ample room for unpacking, relaxing, and moving around comfortably.
It was truly optimal for returning to the accommodation for breaks throughout our honeymoon itinerary.

Being right in front of the Colosseum and Roman Forum made it incredibly convenient to grab a quick meal or simply unwind at the apartment after sightseeing.
Kitchen Facilities

Personally, the kitchen is the biggest reason I would choose this accommodation again.
It came fully equipped with cooking utensils, plenty of dishes, and a large dining table – a truly functional space for cooking. Towards the end of our Rome trip, we frequently bought groceries and made our own pasta and simple steaks.

In Italy:
✔ Dining out can be quite expensive.
✔ Groceries, however, are relatively affordable.
Even a simple meal out can easily set you back ~$64.
Opting for a self-catering accommodation can significantly cut down on your travel expenses.
With current exchange rates, this budget-saving tip is more valuable than ever!

If I were to plan another trip to Europe, I would exclusively look for self-catering accommodations.
It's also a fantastic alternative for anyone who might find Roman cuisine isn't quite to their taste.
Terrace & Abundant Natural Light

The terrace connected to the living room was quite spacious, offering an unobstructed view. For a city-center Rome apartment, it had a wonderful sense of openness.

It was perfect for letting in fresh air during the day and an ideal spot for enjoying a glass of wine in the evening.
Minor Drawbacks
The key system was a bit tricky to figure out at first.
At the time of our stay, the sink drainage was a little slow (we mentioned it at checkout, so it's likely been fixed by now).
These were hardly deal-breakers and were easily manageable given our overall satisfaction with the apartment.
Honestly, we felt it was pretty close to perfect!
Pricing & Booking Tips (Honeymoon Perspective)

Searching for next June (2027), I found prices hovering around ~$256 to ~$320 per night.
✔ Considering peak season in Rome,
✔ The prime Colosseum-front location, and
✔ The honeymoon-level amenities,
This is a very reasonable price point.
Booking Tips
As of July 2026, I've compared prices across different platforms!
Personally, I lean towards Booking.com. It often has great daily promotions and, crucially, offers free cancellation options, which provides excellent flexibility when planning a honeymoon.
👉 I highly recommend comparing prices and then booking through Booking.com.
Here's a comparison for a 2-night stay in March, based on current searches:
Booking.com
~$282
Agoda
~$346
Remember, a minimum 2-night stay is usually required!
Overall Verdict: Would I Recommend for a Rome Honeymoon?
✔ Absolutely, yes! I would choose this spot again in a heartbeat for its location.

✅ Directly opposite Rome's key attractions, offering a spacious and comfortable environment.
✅ Self-catering options help save significantly on travel expenses.
✅ The conditions are more than satisfactory for honeymooners.
✅ Much more expansive than a typical hotel room.
If you're searching for a Rome honeymoon accommodation, a place near the Colosseum, or a self-catering Rome apartment, this is an excellent option to consider!
