Hotel Moderno – A 4-Star Gem!
An Honest Review of the Superior Double Room & Breakfast

Hello, fellow explorers! It's Ttakugi here.
Today, for your Italian adventure in Rome,
especially if you'll be traveling by train a lot,
I'm bringing you a review of a fantastic hotel near Termini Station:
Hotel Moderno!
I've got the lowdown on my stay there!

I actually originally booked the 3-star Hotel Milani,
but due to an issue with the local hotel, I received a complimentary room change to its sister hotel, also part of the BZAR group:
the 4-star Hotel Moderno.
What's more, I even got upgraded to the largest room on the floor!
Starting from a reasonable price of around ~$70 per night,
and with Termini Station just a 5-minute walk away,
I particularly want to highly recommend it to anyone planning early morning train travel to another city
(like Florence or Venice!) or travelers with a lot of luggage!

Just about a 5-minute walk from Termini Train Station
One thing that often stresses travelers during their Italian adventures is
having to drag heavy suitcases
across cobblestone streets.
But I was pleasantly surprised to find that the area in front of Termini Station has been significantly improved,
with smooth paths now making it much easier to pull your luggage.
This meant I could get to the hotel really quickly!

You simply exit Termini Station, walk for about 5 minutes along a flat path,
and you'll arrive right at Hotel Moderno!
It's ideally located for dropping off your luggage after taking the airport train (Leonardo Express) to Termini,
and I highly recommend it if your itinerary includes long-distance train travel the next day
to places like Florence, Venice, or for a Southern Italy tour
(perfect for those early morning departures!).

Lobby & Check-in
The lobby was simple yet welcoming.
There was a compact check-in desk,
and right next to it, a charming cafe & bakery.

This is also where
you'll enjoy your breakfast!
The staff were incredibly friendly,
and the reception desk operates 24 hours.
I was quite tired on my first day, but their warm welcome immediately put me at ease.
To be honest, I was a bit flustered and worried when the hotel change happened unexpectedly,
but they assigned me the largest room on the floor,
the room condition was excellent, and it even had a view!
My mood instantly lifted as soon as I stepped inside!
Plus, they offer a free and secure luggage storage service before check-in and after check-out,
so if you want to explore the city unburdened after checking out,
feel free to leave your bags at the front desk!
Superior Double Room Review

My room was on the 6th floor, and thankfully there's an elevator for easy access.
Seeing it was the largest room on the floor map,
I entered with much excitement! 😄

As it was the corner room, it boasted a great view,
the room itself was spacious, and the bathroom/shower area was impressively large too.

City hotels in Europe
often have small rooms, making it tricky to open your luggage,
but here, there was plenty of space left over
even after laying out two large suitcases flat on the floor.

✔️ Bedding & Noise
The bedding was fresh and meticulously clean,
allowing me to shake off the fatigue from a long flight and tours
and enjoy a deep sleep.
The duvet was on the thinner side.
The soundproofing was quite good, and it's a quiet alley,
so it was peaceful without any outside noise.
✔️ Heating & Cooling
Right after checking in, I thought the air conditioning might be a bit weak,
but after turning it on and organizing my luggage for a bit,
the entire room quickly became cool, making for a comfortable stay.

✔️ Bathroom & View
The shower area was spacious, making it comfortable to wash up,
and the water pressure and hot water were satisfactory.
The view
was an open one overlooking the building across the street,
which was surprisingly good.

Breakfast
The next morning, I had an early
8:30 AM train to catch for a long journey,
so a hearty breakfast was essential.
Hotel Moderno's breakfast
was quite well-prepared and substantial!

Everything tasted good and was easy to enjoy.
With freshly baked breads and croissants,
fresh ham and cheese, yogurt, fruit,
and warm coffee,
it was perfect for filling up before catching the train
and heading off on my adventure.

💡 Breakfast Tips
Breakfast is available from 7 AM,
which was perfect for catching an early train!
