The location of Hotel King in Rome truly couldn't be beaten.

There are plenty of bus stops right outside, and the Barberini Metro Station is just a 5-minute walk away. What made it even better was being able to reach Termini Station and Cipro Station directly without transfers.

Termini Station: 2 metro stops

Cipro Station (for Vatican City tours): 5 metro stops

Trevi Fountain: a 10-minute walk

Colosseum: a 20-minute direct bus ride

I booked our stay through Agoda.

We opted for the Classic Double Twin Room.

For three nights, the total came to ~$565. Additionally, Rome has a city tax, which we paid upon checkout: 6 Euros per person, per night.

For a 3-star hotel, the condition wasn't spectacular, but Rome hotel prices can be pretty steep!

Considering that, I was satisfied with the price we paid.

We arrived at Rome airport around 7:40 PM, so we didn't get to the hotel until about 9:00 PM. The staff member at the front desk was very friendly and helped us with a smooth check-in.

Breakfast can be purchased on the day for 10 Euros per person. The price seemed reasonable, so we decided to try it one morning.

One convenient feature was being able to leave our room key at the front desk when we went out. Those old-school European keys can be heavy and a pain to carry, not to mention the worry of losing them! The staff were great and remembered our faces, always taking good care of us.

The one quirky thing was that reaching our room required taking two separate elevators. First, you take an elevator from the main building entrance up to the 3rd floor.

Then, you walk down this rather long corridor, which includes a few steps up and down. It was a bit of an annoyance, especially with luggage.

After crossing into an adjacent building, you take another, more manual elevator up to the 4th floor. It definitely took some getting used to!

We had read about this in other reviews, so we just laughed it off. It was only really inconvenient when moving our suitcases; otherwise, it was manageable. Given the excellent location and price, it was a minor trade-off.

Inside the Room

Our Classic Double Twin Room had limited lighting, as other reviews had noted. There were two bedside lamps which helped, but it was still a bit dim for applying makeup in the mornings. I ended up opening the blackout curtains to use the natural sunlight.

Important to note: there's no mini-fridge, no coffee maker, and no complimentary water. Make sure to bring your own water bottles!

There's a decent-sized vanity next to the blackout curtains, along with a safe. We had plenty of space on the floor to open two large suitcases.

The Bathroom

I'm generally not a huge fan of European shower setups, but the shower booth here was pretty good at keeping water from leaking out. Shampoo, soap, a hairdryer, toilet paper, and towels were provided.

While the shower drain wasn't perfectly fast, it wasn't a major inconvenience.

The bathroom was reasonably clean, and a large window allowed for good ventilation. The toilet flushed well.

Since we really only used the room for sleeping and went in with low expectations based on reviews, it was perfectly acceptable. The biggest inconvenience was the lack of complimentary water.

Towels were changed daily, which was a nice touch. I didn't ask about a microwave, but when I inquired about a coffee maker, they kindly lent us one from the lobby, though it unfortunately didn't work.

Breakfast

The breakfast area is located in the restaurant on the 3rd-floor passageway that connects to another building. You can pay 10 Euros per person on the day to enjoy breakfast (payment is made at the front desk).

They offered juice, coffee, cereal, yogurt, various pastries, ham, cheese, and more. It wasn't bad at all.

It was a standard European breakfast — nothing spectacular, but perfectly adequate to fuel up for a day of exploring.

I didn't realize until our last day, but there's also a waiting area like this on the 2nd floor of the main hotel building. There was also a clean public restroom on the 2nd floor.

We discovered it after checking out and storing our luggage, when we needed to use the restroom before heading to the airport. Talk about finding hidden gems!

The staff were consistently helpful and friendly, always ready to answer our questions. Their English was excellent, which made communication easy.

If you're looking for a good value hotel with an excellent location in Rome, especially considering current accommodation prices, Hotel King is a solid recommendation.

Overall, I had a perfectly decent stay and would consider it again for a budget-conscious trip.
