Value-for-Money Hotels Near Termini Station, Rome

In Rome, Italy, there was so much to explore, from southern day trips to countless sights within the city itself.

So, when planning my Rome trip, the most crucial factor I considered was, without a doubt, location.

Also, to maximize savings during my month-long trip, I meticulously compared accommodation costs. This is my honest review of a place I actually stayed at for 4 nights and 5 days in Rome! 🇮🇹

In this post, I'll introduce the Rome accommodation I personally stayed in, its location, pros and cons,

and also suggest other places to consider.

Near Termini Station

If you plan on moving frequently between the airport or other cities, there's no better spot than near Termini Station. I was surprised to find that the old reputation of Termini Station being unsafe seems to be a thing of the past – it felt much safer than 10 years ago! 😮‍💨 Phew.

Google Maps showed the accommodation was so close to Termini Station that it only took 1 minute to walk there.

It's practically right outside the station, making it incredibly convenient whether you arrive late or need to catch an early morning train!

Lobby Atmosphere

The lobby exuded a classic European vibe overall.

The antique furniture, paintings, and lighting blended perfectly, creating a unique atmosphere that only an older hotel can offer. My first impression was quite positive! ⭐️

Most importantly, the staff working in shifts were incredibly

friendly, making it easy to ask any questions I had.

Inside the Accommodation

Since I was arriving from Budapest and Croatia, I didn't get many chances to take photos of the room that day, so I've included some Agoda pictures here!

The actual room had a very similar layout and atmosphere to the photos. To be honest, while the room wasn't particularly spacious (which is expected given the affordable price), it was perfectly sufficient for sleeping and focusing on sightseeing.

I had booked a Southern Italy tour for early the next morning, and being right in front of Termini Station made getting around incredibly easy. It was absolutely perfect for reaching the tour meeting point! 👍🏻

Because Termini Station was right outside, I could comfortably make my way to the early morning Southern Italy tour.

It was also an incredibly convenient location for catching trains to other cities. (Indeed, it made traveling to Venice after Rome a breeze!) 🚇

Thanks to this, I was able to enjoy the Southern Italy tour effortlessly.

From the beautiful landscapes of Positano to charming lemon shops overflowing with Italian flair, I had a full day without any stress about returning to the accommodation. 🍋🍋

A Satisfying Breakfast

The staff member's energy was a bit overwhelming at times, but they were incredibly kind ;;

I stayed here for 3 nights, and seeing this staff member every single morning made me quite fond of them 😅

Sitting on the terrace for breakfast,

started my morning off on a great note.

The breakfast was more satisfying than I expected. There were more varieties than I anticipated, and with scrambled eggs, bacon, bread, yogurt, juice, and more, it was absolutely perfect for a morning meal. 🥖🥤🥓

If I asked for refills of anything, they brought it right away,

making it ideal to grab a quick, hearty meal before starting my day of exploration in pricey Europe.

Madison Hotel Rome is often available for ~$69 or less during the off-season, and around ~$69 during peak season, making it a solid option if you're looking for a well-located, budget-friendly accommodation in Rome.

Rome's Major Tourist Attractions

Rome's major attractions are surprisingly concentrated in one area, making the location of your accommodation incredibly important. From Madison Hotel, you can explore key sights like the Spanish Steps, the Colosseum, and the Roman Forum on foot,

or easily get around using public transport.

After several days of only eating Italian food, I started craving Korean cuisine,

and thankfully, there was a Korean restaurant near the hotel where I could enjoy a hearty meal. This was a pretty big advantage, especially for a long trip.

Another Accommodation Recommendation

If you prioritize location above all else, even if it means a slightly higher accommodation cost, I personally recommend ‘Hotel Nazionale’ (호텔 나치오날레)

as well.

While it's a bit pricier than Madison Hotel (typically around ~$138-~$207),

its proximity to major attractions like the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and Piazza Navona

makes it an excellent base for exploring the city on foot directly from your accommodation.

Location was the most crucial factor for me when traveling in Rome. While Madison Hotel's room condition wasn't luxurious,

its unbeatable accessibility right in front of Termini Station and reasonable price made it a highly satisfying stay. It was especially great to save on costs while staying for 4 nights or more in Rome.

If you're planning day trips by train or a Southern Italy tour, the ease of transportation was a huge plus, and exploring the main attractions was effortless. I'd highly recommend it to those who prioritize value for money.
