Regent Hotel Tianjin Review 2026: Value & Non-Smoking Stay

While planning my trip to Tianjin, China,

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out where to book my hotel.

At first, I was planning to book a hotel near Binjiang Avenue.

But the room rates were higher than I expected,

and the places with decent rates either didn't have guaranteed non-smoking rooms

or the rooms looked a bit dated, which didn't really appeal to me.

That’s when I stumbled upon the Lijandong Hotel.

And let me tell you, actually staying there was a dream—the rooms were incredibly clean,

and since it's a fully non-smoking hotel, I was absolutely thrilled with my stay.

1. Tianjin Hotel Location

First off, if you're choosing accommodation in Tianjin, China,

the areas around Binjiang Avenue or Tianjin Railway Station are usually your safest bets.

Binjiang Avenue is basically the Myeongdong of Tianjin,

packed with shopping malls and amazing eateries, making it the most popular street for tourists.

It's also super close to the Haihe River, which is perfect for an evening stroll along the waterfront,

and makes exploring major attractions on foot incredibly convenient.

However, if you are visiting Tianjin as a quick weekend getaway from Beijing,

staying near Tianjin Railway Station might actually be a better choice.

Taking the high-speed train from Beijing to Tianjin takes as little as

30 to 35 minutes, which is why so many people visit for a quick side trip.

Booking a place near the station means you won't have to haul your luggage far when arriving

or heading back to Beijing,

making your journey much smoother.

Looking at the map, if you cross the river from Binjiang Avenue,

you'll find Tianjin Railway Station.

2. Why I Recommend It

At first, we were also looking for a place near Binjiang Avenue.

But the hotel rates there were higher than expected,

and the ones within our budget either looked a bit rundown

or charged extra for a non-smoking room.

So, we expanded our search radius a bit, and that's when we found

the Lijandong Hotel.

In the end, it turned out to be the perfect choice.

Taxi rides are so cheap in China if you use Didi,

so even if it takes a little longer to get to the main sights,

saving big on accommodation actually lowers your overall travel budget!

In fact, the total we spent on taking taxis for our entire 3-day, 2-night trip

was only about ~$13 per person.

Since it’s a smoke-free hotel, we didn't have to worry about lingering cigarette smells,

and the room was way more spacious and modern than we expected.

Indoor smoking is still quite common in China,

so if you book blindly, you might end up with a smoking-permitted room.

If you are a non-smoker,

staying in a room that smells like stale smoke

will completely ruin your relaxing downtime!

It's also just a 30 to 40-minute Didi ride from the airport,

which isn't much different from staying near Binjiang Avenue or Tianjin Railway Station.

3. The Rooms

We took a DiDi straight from the airport,

and the moment we walked into the Tianjin Lizhendong Hotel, the lobby was so spacious and clean

that I immediately knew we had picked the perfect place.

The room had a really fresh, modern vibe to it.

We booked a Cozy Room with two beds,

and each bed was generously sized and super spacious for one person.

Since we had a packed, short itinerary,

the most important thing was getting high-quality sleep,

and Lizhendong Hotel really delivered with its top-notch room condition.

It was the perfect spot to recharge after a long day.

There was a bedside table next to each bed, making it easy to store our things,

along with reading lights, remote light switches,

and 220V power outlets that didn't require an adapter.

There was another building across the street,

but thanks to the double curtains, privacy wasn't an issue at all.

The blackout curtains could be opened and closed automatically

just by pressing a button from the comfort of the bed.

I couldn't believe we got these kinds of features for just around ~$38 a night!

The hotel was tucked just one turn away from the main road,

but the street wasn't narrow or dark at all,

so we felt completely safe even when returning late at night.

It was close enough to the main road to easily call a DiDi taxi,

but tucked away enough that we didn't hear any traffic noise at night,

allowing us to sleep soundly in peace.

There was a small table and chair by the window,

and the slightly stained chair was literally the only flaw of Lizhendong Hotel.

Two bottles of bottled water were replenished daily,

and the front desk will give you unlimited extras upon request.

With hangers and a clothing rack right near the entrance,

we hand-washed a few sweaty clothes, hung them up, and they dried in no time.

The bathroom had a great layout with a separate shower booth and toilet area,

and the shower space itself was spacious and comfortable.

The complimentary body wash smelled so good

and made showering feel incredibly refreshing.

4. Pricing & Value

One of the highlights of our Tianjin trip

was definitely the budget-friendly room rate.

We booked a 2-night stay for two people for under ~$83,

which is an absolute steal given the quality of the room!

We booked our stay through Trip.com. When traveling to China,
