The St. Regis Tianjin!

The St. Regis Tianjin, a luxury brand under the Marriott umbrella famous for its Butler Service and Champagne Rituals, was not only excellently located but also boasted a stunning exterior, truly befitting a 5-star hotel!

Curious about what makes St. Regis unique, I stayed there with my own money, and now

I'll be introducing its room condition, honest review, pros and cons, and who it's recommended for.

The St. Regis Tianjin Location

Located right next to the Haihe River, The St. Regis Tianjin boasts a unique and eye-catching exterior.

Its distinctive structure, seemingly hollowed out in the center as if to allow dragons to pass through, is truly impressive.

There's also a lounge where you can enjoy coffee or drinks while overlooking the river,

making it a great spot to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy Tianjin's night views!

✔️ Tianjin Binhai International Airport: Approximately 30 minutes by car

✔️ Riverside 66 Shopping Mall: 1 minute walk

✔️ Tianjin Railway Station: Approximately 5 minutes by car, 20 minutes walk

✔️ Binjiang Shopping Mall: Approximately 15 minutes walk

✔️ Jinwanguangchang (Jinwan Plaza) Subway Station: Approximately 5 minutes walk

This is a prime location, offering easy access to Tianjin's main attractions by foot, bike, or subway.

Check-in: 15:00 Check-out: 12:00

The lobby exudes a classic and luxurious atmosphere!

With its high ceilings, chandeliers, and marble finishes, it greets you with the grandeur expected of a 5-star establishment.

There were about four check-in counters.

One thing that was a bit disappointing during the check-in process was,

even though I had booked a river view room, the first room assigned to us had its view more than two-thirds blocked by an adjacent building.

The hotel was almost fully booked, so the alternative room offered on the first night had a similar issue, and I honestly just gave up. However, the next day, the hotel prepared an apology letter and some fruit in our room, and moved us to a room with a much better view.

While it would have been ideal to have been assigned a good room from the start, their five-star problem-solving skills were truly impressive!

Looking at other reviews, it seems I'm not the only one who's had a similar experience,

✔️ But aside from the front desk, the concierge and other staff members were incredibly friendly and professional!

East Wing & West Wing

The building has a rectangular shape, so it's divided into an East Wing and a West Wing,

and the elevator access points are also separate.

Each wing has two elevators.

✔️ East Wing: Towards the Clock Tower

Here's a breakdown of the floors:

M: Gym, Swimming Pool

1F: Reception, Lounge, Breakfast Restaurant, Bar, etc.

5-17F: Guest Rooms

Each floor's hallway is adorned with carvings depicting old Tianjin scenes or historical buildings,

and they're different on every floor, making it quite interesting to see.

Such a thoughtful St. Regis touch!

Deluxe Queen Room (2 Queen Beds, River View Guest Room)

The room welcomed us with a classic cherry-colored door, something you don't often see these days.

Our room was a Deluxe Queen Room (2 Queen Beds, River View Guest Room)!

While the room has some history, it's very well-maintained,

feeling less like it's old and more like it's beautifully preserved with a classic charm.

The spaciousness was definitely a major plus,

and we got to enjoy the Hai River view along with Tianjin's stunning nightscape!

This was the view from the room we were initially assigned.

From certain angles, it offered a bit of a river view, but as you moved towards the bed, all you could really see was the neighboring building.

Even though there's a distinction between a 'riverfront view' and a 'river view,' this was just too ambiguous to be called a river view at all...

And this is the view from the room they changed us to the next day.

While there was no sofa, instead, it was wonderful to have such an **open river view that the neighboring building didn't obstruct it from any angle**,

and at night, the Tianjin nightscape blended beautifully with the river view, making it quite a sight to behold!

Bedroom

The spacious queen bed had excellent quality bedding and linens,

and since I checked in in the evening, the ✅️**turndown service** had already been pleasantly completed.

✔️ Power outlets and adjustable lighting on the central bedside table

✔️ Air conditioning was wonderfully strong

The spacious room featured a **sofa and a small table** perfect for enjoying the river view,

something that appeared to be a device for butler service, and

the **table**, which was well-equipped with a variety of **power outlets and a docking station**,

offered a perfectly conducive environment for getting work done.

While it wasn't a smart TV, the television was still quite modern,

Channels were primarily Chinese, with about one foreign channel available.

Minibar & Amenities

Along with a **✅️kettle and water glasses**, **bottled water was generously provided**!

In the cabinet, ✅️**mugs, wine glasses, champagne flutes, and an ice bucket** were all provided, adding to the luxurious feel.

Tea was provided in **tea bags**, and coffee, uniquely,

was offered as **✅️drip bags with a dedicated drip kettle**, a truly distinct and thoughtful detail!

What's more, if you wished for coffee, you could simply ask your dedicated butler, and they would prepare it and bring it to your room anytime.

✅️ Please keep in mind that wine and snacks come with a charge,

and drinks and treats in the mini-fridge are also extra.

Inside the closet, you'll find ✅️ plush bathrobes, disposable slippers, a safe, an iron and ironing board, and various types of hangers.

Even the extra blankets from turndown service were neatly arranged.

The luggage rack was also wonderfully spacious – a definite plus!

As a heads-up, The St. Regis Tianjin still has smoking rooms,

so ✅️ if you prefer a non-smoking room, be sure to confirm it when making your reservation!

In the non-smoking room, there was absolutely no trace or smell of smoke.

Bathroom

✅️ The bathroom layout boasts a separate bathtub, toilet, and shower area,

complete with dual sinks.

With its marble interior and double sinks, the bathroom felt luxurious and incredibly spacious overall.

The thoughtful details truly stood out, like the pristine bath mat and extra bottled water!

A hairdryer and scale were also provided.

There's also a convenient magnifying mirror, perfect for getting ready,

You'll find essential amenities like ✅️ soap, cotton swabs, mouthwash, a shower cap, and cotton pads.

(I absolutely love hotels that provide mouthwash!)

Regarding amenities like shampoo and body wash,

a note mentioned they were ✅️ carefully selected from fancy brands across the globe, including Sweden, Australia, and the UK.

Indeed, Sodashi body wash, Sachajuan shampoo and conditioner, and Ren facial soap were provided.

The well-maintained ✅️bathtub can be hidden with a curtain,

Classically, along with a small television,

both the showerhead and faucet are installed.

The ✅️shower room, with its deep opening, felt almost cave-like.

It has both a standard showerhead and a rain showerhead, and the water pressure is decent,

but since it's structured with small tiles, a bit of water stain was visible in the corners.

With ✅️Sodashi Body Wash & SACHAJUAN Shampoo and Conditioner,

it was a subtle pleasure to be able to try amenities from different brands and scents.

Even the toilet area was spotless.

Who This Hotel Is Perfect For

While The St. Regis Tianjin had some minor drawbacks, such as its age and initial room assignment issues,

its distinct advantages still made it a highly recommendable accommodation for these types of travelers.

📍 Those seeking a luxury hotel experience at a reasonable price — This branch offers the St. Regis brand experience at one of its lowest prices.

📍 Those who wish to enjoy the Haihe River's night view from their room — A river-view room can offer a perfectly satisfying hotel stay if the view angle is well-assigned.

📍Business travelers — With spacious work areas, butler service amenities, and 24-hour room service.

📍 Those who value luxury details like turn-down service — Enjoy unique St. Regis details, from drip-bag coffee and champagne flutes to premium amenities.

Summary

Overall, from its exterior, location, room spaciousness, premium amenities, responsive service, to turn-down service,

it truly embodied a 5-star St. Regis, offering everything one would expect.

If you wish to gaze directly at the river, I recommend booking a definitive riverfront view room,

and it comes highly recommended as a thoroughly satisfying accommodation choice for your Tianjin trip!~~
