Tianjin One-Day Itinerary Highlights
Italian Style Street → Minyuan Plaza → Binjiangdao Pedestrian Street → Wangpo Daxia Shrimp Hot Pot → Hotel Rest → Ancient Culture Street → Haihe River → Tianjin Eye
1. Italian Style Street 意大利风情区 (Yìdàlì Fēngqíngqū)
My Tianjin adventure began around 11 AM upon arrival, as I was staying at a conveniently located hotel right in front of the Italian Style Street. This hotel offered fantastic value, so I'll link to my previous blog post about it if you're looking for accommodation recommendations!

The Italian Style Street was my first stop in Tianjin. This area is a collection of charming European-style buildings, making you feel as if you've been transported to a picturesque Italian town.

During the day, I enjoyed admiring the architecture and streetscapes. There's also a famous bookstore here called Zhongshuge (钟书阁), known for its stunning interior design. You'll find many people inside capturing photos of its unique aesthetic!

It's definitely worth a visit if you have the time!

Personally, I found the Italian Style Street even more captivating in the evening. Since my hotel was right nearby, I visited both during the day and again at night, and the atmosphere transformed completely.

The evenings here were much livelier and more vibrant.
2. Minyuan Plaza 民园广场 (Mínyuán Guǎngchǎng)

Minyuan Plaza is a prominent landmark within the Wudadao area. Its beautiful surrounding architecture and the charming plaza atmosphere make it a fantastic spot for photos.
It's quite a popular gathering place, and the plaza itself is truly memorable for its beauty. There are also plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby, making it a great spot to take a break and relax while exploring.

While it might not be packed with specific activities, it's an ideal place to admire the buildings set against a wide grassy expanse and capture some leisurely photos.
3. Binjiangdao Pedestrian Street 滨江道步行街 (Bīnjiāngdào Bùxíngjiē)
This is one of Tianjin's major commercial hubs. With a wide array of shops, malls, and restaurants, it feels quite similar to Myeongdong in Seoul.
If you're keen on shopping or visiting a particular restaurant, it's worth a stop. However, if your travel itinerary is tight, I'd recommend allocating more time to other attractions.

It was here that I enjoyed the shrimp hot pot at Wangpo Daxia. Exploring local cuisine is definitely one of the greatest joys of traveling in China!
4. Wangpo Daxia Shrimp Hot Pot 王婆大虾 (Wángpó Dàxiā)

This is where I had lunch on Binjiangdao. They serve a delicious shrimp dish, almost like a steamed shrimp, with a rich, sweet, and savory flavor.

Once you've enjoyed most of the shrimp, they add water to the pot, transforming it into a delightful hot pot experience. The broth became even more flavorful as it simmered down!

After a satisfying meal, I felt quite tired and headed back to my hotel for a short rest and to recharge. It seems I've reached the point where I need those breaks to keep up with my travels!
5. Ancient Culture Street 天津古文化街 (Tiānjīn Gǔwénhuà Jiē)

After my hotel break, I made my way to the Ancient Culture Street. This street truly immerses you in a traditional Chinese atmosphere.

With its traditional-style buildings and a variety of shops, it was a wonderful place to stroll around and explore. It offered a completely different charm from the Italian Style Street.

It was fantastic to experience such distinct atmospheres within the same city! This traditional street is perfect for a leisurely walk and can be easily combined with an evening visit to the Haihe River and Tianjin Eye.
6. Haihe River 海河 (Hǎihé) & Tianjin Eye 天津之眼 (Tiānjīn Zhī Yǎn)
For an unforgettable evening in Tianjin, I highly recommend the Tianjin Eye.

After exploring the Ancient Culture Street, I walked along the river all the way to the Tianjin Eye.

The Tianjin Eye is a massive Ferris wheel uniquely situated over the Haihe River, serving as an iconic landmark of the city.

While I didn't ride the Ferris wheel myself, simply enjoying the views from the riverside was a fantastic experience. I particularly enjoyed finding a spot by the river, grabbing some snacks, and having a beer.

The weather was perfect, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the beer tasted absolutely amazing!

Taking a moment to relax with a beer while gazing at the Tianjin Eye and the river offered a different kind of charm compared to the busy sightseeing. While it's great to visit popular attractions, taking time to soak in the local atmosphere and simply relax is just as important during a trip.
