Day 8

Exploring Dubrovnik

Starting the day with high energy—

heading off to the Rector's Palace, which we missed yesterday!

By the way, is it "Rector's Palace" or "Rector's Court"?

Both seem correct, but searching online got me a bit confused, haha.

The sun was absolutely blazing.

What is up with this total '80s pose?

Now that we've got our photos, shall we head inside?

The term "Rector" refers to the city's governor,

so it represents a title rather than a person's name.

1. Rector's Palace

A 14th-century Gothic-Renaissance masterpiece.

Inside, you can admire period furniture and various historical paintings on display.

There are so many beautiful paintings hanging on the walls.

Before heading up the stairs, we tried taking some photos

to capture that trendy Gen Z aesthetic.

Leaving behind those super intense close-ups,

let's make our way to the stairs.

It's really fun to take photos trying to capture this exact vibe!

Now that we've got all the staircase shots, let's head on up.

Ironically, I thought the Rector's Palace would have the least to offer,

but I think we ended up taking the most photos here! haha

It was great that they allowed us to take photos so freely here.

After taking a look at the gorgeous roof and coming back down,

there's yet another iconic Dubrovnik photo spot waiting for us.

2. The Gelato Shop

To get up to the Mount Srđ Viewpoint,

you usually have to take a taxi.

But since the fare was a bit pricier than I expected...

I decided to find some travel buddies to split the ride.

Since I'm basically a pro at finding travel companions by now, haha,

I posted a quick shout-out and waited.

In no time, we added 2 more people and set off as a group of 4!

On our way, we stopped by this cute little gelato shop

just to take a quick breather.

The owner was incredibly cheerful,

and even though the sun was absolutely scorching,

they had a nice canopy, so we decided to chill outside for a bit.

I think we got lemon and strawberry?!

Taking advantage of the quick break for a long-awaited selfie session!

Am I getting tanner by the minute or what? lol...

If you want to save on taxi fares,

be brave and look for some travel buddies!

Fortune favors the bold—and so do split taxi fares! 😉

3. Game of Thrones Filming Location

GAME OF THRONES is so epic—wow!

Standing right where they filmed Game of Thrones!

It felt so familiar, like it was right on the tip of my tongue.

Incredible!!!

The walk from where the taxi dropped us off to the Mount Srđ photo spot

was definitely an adventure. ^^;;;

Pro tip: Just keep heading straight up! ;;

We accidentally wandered onto a sketchy, overgrown path, but some other tourists

told us they were heading down, so we did an immediate U-turn lol.

It wasn't really clear on Google Maps, and I couldn't find it on any blogs either,

so we just relied entirely on our gut instincts to find it.

We decided to skip the cable car.

Honestly, it didn't really feel necessary haha.

4. Mount Srđ Viewpoint

We made it!

Mount Srđ Viewpoint, right in time for the golden sunset.

Seriously, our timing couldn't have been more perfect!

My travel buddies were all so incredibly sweet,

and we kept snapping endless photos of each other. You guys are the best! 👍

I even met a fellow traveler studying abroad in Germany~

And another traveler we met here had such a vibrant, easygoing personality.

One of my travel buddies who originally didn't want to come...

...saw my photos, changed their mind instantly,

so we ended up heading back up together.

And when we did, the sky had completely changed colors.

You have no idea how beautiful it was right after the sunset! 😍

Fate really brought us all together!

On our way back down...

We called a taxi to make our way back.

But on the drive down...

The views were absolutely insane.

I was trying to take a picture, and the driver actually slowed down and waited for me—so sweet! 🥹

Saying a bittersweet goodbye to the view, we headed off to grab some dinner.

Had a wonderful dinner,

And the next morning, we used up every last bit of our leftover ingredients...

...to make an absolute feast! It was so good!!

Thank you to our lovely grandpa host.

We will never forget your warmth!

We even got a cute fridge magnet as a parting gift before we left.
