When you're planning a winter trip to Pyeongchang (평창), choosing the right accommodation can be just as important as picking your ski resort.
Around Yongpyong (용평) and Alpensia (알펜시아) ski resorts, you'll find a variety of options, from resorts to hotels.
For our stay, we chose the Ramada Hotel & Suites Pyeongchang (라마다 호텔&스위트 평창).
📍 Ramada Hotel & Suites Pyeongchang
107 Omok-gil, Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province

What stood out the most was the high ceiling and duplex structure of our room.
Having the space divided into upper and lower levels gave it a different feel from typical hotel rooms, and seeing the trees outside the window made it a wonderfully relaxing place to unwind.
Today, I'll share details about the room we stayed in and some tips for those considering a winter visit.
Is it close to Yongpyong and Alpensia Ski Resorts?
The Ramada Pyeongchang is located in Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province.
It's only about a 10-minute drive to both Yongpyong and Alpensia Ski Resorts, making it a great option if your plan involves skiing all day and returning to a comfortable room to rest.
For those visiting in the fall, Odeasan (오대산) Woljeongsa Temple (월정사) is also an option, located about an 18-mile (30-minute) drive away. It would be perfect for combining a scenic forest walk and enjoying the autumn foliage.
A Room with Two Beds and High Ceilings
Our room had two beds, a TV, and a table.
With large curtains by the window and the open space extending to the duplex level, it felt incredibly spacious and never cramped when we first walked in.

Sometimes, hotel rooms can feel a bit small when the beds take up most of the space.
But here, with the separate upper floor, it felt quite comfortable for two people.
We enjoyed the flexibility of relaxing on the bed, then heading upstairs to spend some time, switching spots within the room.

Terrace with a View of Trees
There was also a terrace by the window.
It had chairs and a table, so it would be lovely to sit out there for a bit on a warmer day.
When we visited, it was too cold to spend time on the terrace, though!
Still, opening the curtains in the morning to see the trees was a wonderful experience.

Starting the day with a view of nature instead of a bustling city scene felt serene and peaceful.
Even without doing anything special at the hotel, simply pausing to look out the window was a highlight.
The Duplex Space
Rooms with a duplex structure are always fun to explore, even just climbing up to take a look!
We brought a projector and a Nintendo Switch, so we spent our time upstairs playing games and watching streaming services.
After a day of sightseeing, coming back to the hotel to play games and relax together was another enjoyable part of our trip.

Clean Bathroom
The bathroom we used had a bidet, a sink, and a shower area.
Overall, it gave a clean impression, and we didn't experience any major inconveniences during our stay.
Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were also provided.

I tend to pay attention to the condition of the bathroom when choosing accommodation, and in this regard, I was generally satisfied.
Refrigerator and Microwave Provided
Below the stairs, there was a refrigerator and a closet.

Opening a large door under the stairs, we found a small sink and an induction cooktop.
However, there was a sign indicating induction cooktop use is prohibited.

Be Prepared for Dryness in Winter
If you're staying in winter, I want to mention the dryness.
Some friends who stayed at the same hotel mentioned waking up feeling dry.
Thinking back, I remember hanging towels to dry overnight to add some humidity.
While the high ceilings offer a great sense of openness, indoor temperature and humidity in winter can be perceived differently by each person.

If you're sensitive to dryness, it would be a good idea to bring a portable humidifier or extra moisturizing products.
Climbing up and down the duplex stairs could also be a bit inconvenient at times.
Especially since we were mostly on the duplex floor, it did get a little annoying having to go up and down to grab things.
Additional Facilities
There's also a sauna, but it requires an additional fee. According to the information, it's ₩20,000 (~$15) for adults and ₩14,000 (~$10) for children.
Some accommodation packages include sauna passes, so if you plan to use it, compare those packages with room-only rates.
Our booking didn't include it, so we didn't use the sauna.
Category | 1 Person Fee |
Adult | ₩20,000 (~$15) |
Child | ₩14,000 (~$10) |
Combine with an Odaesan Trip in Autumn
While it's a great choice for ski accommodation in winter, in autumn, it's also well-suited for a trip exploring Odaesan Woljeongsa Temple and its fir forest path.
A day of walking through the forest at Woljeongsa and returning to rest at the hotel sounds wonderful.
I particularly enjoyed the time spent looking at the trees from our room, and I imagine visiting in autumn would offer an entirely different atmosphere.
If autumn foliage is your main goal, be sure to check the year's foliage conditions before finalizing your travel dates.
How to Book Affordably
Ramada Pyeongchang is known for being quite cost-effective. When booking, make sure to check prices as they vary by date.
I found that there was a noticeable price difference depending on whether you were a member or not.
It's probably best to check the current rates directly on booking sites.

Agoda | Yeogieotte |
₩60,000-₩90,000 (~$44-$66) | ₩59,000-₩100,000 (~$43-$74) |
With Yeogieotte, you can get an additional 10% off if you apply coupons.

If You Want to Relax in a Duplex Room
For me, the Ramada Pyeongchang is a place where the time spent relaxing in the room truly stands out. It's quiet and allowed for a leisurely stay, making it a place I'd love to visit again.
If you're planning a ski trip to Yongpyong or Alpensia, or a Pyeongchang adventure that includes Odaesan, check out the room conditions for your desired dates :)
