Pyeongchang's Silverbell Church: A Fairytale Photo Spot in Gangwon
Uncover Silverbell Church in Pyeongchang, a charming, Instagram-famous chapel on a green hill. Perfect for family photos, with a mini animal farm and classic cars.

On a recent trip to Samyang Roundhill, as we exited the highway, a beautiful building caught my eye in the distance.
It was so enchanting that we decided to make an impromptu stop on our way out.
And just like that, we stumbled upon Silverbell Church, a place I'd seen countless times on social media!
Let's dive into some essential details before you plan your visit.

What Makes Silverbell Church Special?

A Fairytale European Photo Zone:
With its pristine white exterior and a charming pointed bell tower perched atop a lush green hill, Silverbell Church evokes the image of a quaint little chapel nestled in a European countryside village. It's no wonder this spot is a favorite for social media photo shoots!

A Heartwarming Story:
This charming little chapel was built with a deeply personal touch—a wish from the owner's parents, hoping that all who visit would find peace and blessings. It's a functioning church where services are occasionally held. The interior is modest and cozy, and during the colder months, a wood-burning stove fills the space with warmth.
Charming Through All Four Seasons:
In spring, summer, and fall, the church is surrounded by vibrant green grassy hills and a clear blue sky. But when winter brings heavy snowfall, it transforms into a breathtaking snowy wonderland, often compared to the Swiss Alps. This makes it a consistently popular spot for winter travel.
Family Fun at Silverbell Church

Mini Animal Farm:
Below the church hill, you'll find a delightful mini animal farm where kids can enjoy seeing sheep, ponies, and alpacas for free. Our little ones were particularly captivated by a cute baby alpaca born on 07/01/2026!

Charming Train Track Photo Zone:
On the path leading up the hill, there's a charming mini train track, perfect for capturing adorable photos of your children. (Just a heads-up: the slope is quite steep, so be careful with little ones to prevent slips and falls.)
Visitor Tip:
The area isn't overly large, making it ideal for a leisurely 30-minute to 1-hour stroll and photo session. It pairs perfectly with nearby attractions like Daegwallyeong Sky Ranch, Samyang Roundhill, or the Woljeongsa Fir Forest Path for a memorable day trip.
If you haven't had a meal, the pizza place located halfway up the hill is a fantastic spot to grab a bite and enjoy a coffee. Just remember that it can get crowded on holidays, so try to arrive early!

Here's a parking tip: many visitors want to park on the side leading directly up to Silverbell Church, but if you park in the inner lot on the opposite side, you can take an elevator directly to the pizza place. I made a mental note to use this parking spot on my next visit!

The day we visited, the ground was a bit damp. Since the church is on a hill, the slope is steeper than you might expect. We saw several excited children playing on the grassy lawn slip and get their clothes dirty. It served as a good reminder to caution our own child about the slippery conditions.
Initially, my child wasn't keen on visiting, thinking it was just another photo spot with nothing to capture their interest. But they were pleasantly surprised!

There were many classic cars on display, and our car-loving child was absolutely thrilled, jumping into each one with joy. The small animal farm also had a surprisingly diverse range of animals. My child bounced around excitedly from one spot to another.
Thanks to these unexpected delights, what started as a quick photo stop turned into a truly enjoyable outing. If we hadn't already eaten, we definitely would have grabbed a pizza. A slight regret, but a wonderful memory nonetheless!
