Menu & Pricing

As a top restorative dining spot in Gyeongju, the star of the show is freshwater eel. With two main styles—Salted and Spiced (Glazed)—you can easily choose based on your flavor preference.

After debating between the two, I ordered two portions of their signature Grilled Salted Eel.
An Honest Dining Review

The presentation of the side dishes (banchan) was incredibly neat and appetizing.
The combination of shredded ginger, seasoned chives, and onion soy sauce cuts through the richness of the eel beautifully.

With an abundance of healthy, seasoned wild greens, this is a fantastic restaurant for a wholesome family dinner.
Every side dish is made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. They are so delicious and filling that you could almost make a meal of them alone!

📌 Grilled Salted Freshwater Eel (2 Portions)
To be honest, I am usually very sensitive to fishy smells, but this eel was incredibly clean, nutty, and savory. I ended up devouring every single bite!
The texture was remarkably plump and chewy—the kind of meal you keep craving long after you leave.

The friendly owner grills the eel to a perfect golden brown right at your table. All you have to do is sit back, relax, and wait for it to cook. Wrap it in a fresh sesame leaf, add a dab of sauce, and enjoy!

Because the staff takes care of all the cooking, it’s a stress-free dining experience, making it an especially great spot to take parents or family.

Here is a special treat: they serve grilled eel intestines, but only to one lucky table per day!
Lady Luck was on my side, and I got to try them. They were incredibly rich, savory, and packed with deep flavor—the ultimate traditional restorative bite.

To wrap up the meal, we were served a glass of cold Sikhye (traditional sweet rice punch). Since it’s house-made, it was perfectly balanced and not overly sweet—the ideal palate cleanser.
Finding a restaurant that does both simple and rich flavors so cleanly is rare, but Pungcheon Freshwater Eel Chunghyo Branch hits the nail on the head.
From the spectacular main dish to the sweet dessert, everything was top-tier.
