My journey to Prague, Czech Republic, was part of a grand European adventure that included Germany!

I ventured there during the transition from autumn to winter, and while it was incredibly chilly,

the upside was that it was the off-season, meaning fewer crowds to contend with,

allowing me to explore at a wonderfully relaxed pace.

While even Korea gets quite cold around this time, Europe, during the late autumn/early winter season,

can feel particularly crisp, with temperatures often dropping to around 1 degree Celsius!

Weather in November and December

In Prague, November sees average low temperatures around 0.2 degrees Celsius,

with highs of 6 degrees Celsius, making mornings and evenings quite brisk.

It's comparable to late autumn or early winter weather in many temperate regions.

While heavy rain is uncommon, you might encounter a light drizzle now and then.

During my trip, it didn't rain, but the skies were mostly overcast with very few clear days...

And as we move into December, temperatures often dip below freezing!

Dressing for the Weather

In early November, Prague isn't in its full winter grip yet, so

during the daytime when you're out exploring,

I found a thick knit sweater and a zip-up jacket to be quite comfortable.

However, as you approach December, or during those crisp early mornings

and chilly evenings, layering becomes crucial.

A warm puffer jacket or a substantial coat is an absolute must-have!

Honestly, it's no exaggeration to say that a major draw for visitors to Prague Castle is

When you stand before it in person, its sheer grandeur is utterly breathtaking – photos simply can't capture it all.

And you absolutely cannot miss Mucha's stained glass windows – a true masterpiece if you visit Prague.

Charles Bridge

Another absolute must-see on your Prague adventure!

It's a place where you can take in the Old Town, Prague Castle, and the Vltava River all at once, truly making it one of Prague's most iconic landmarks.

And at night, it transforms into a magical photo spot, perfect for capturing those stunning shots with Prague Castle twinkling in the background!

Old Town Square & Astronomical Clock

Old Town Square, the vibrant heart of Prague, is enveloped by charming, historic European buildings. You'll often find lively street performances and bustling markets, making it a fantastic place to simply wander and soak it all in.

The Astronomical Clock is home to one of the world's oldest and most intricate astronomical clocks. Every hour on the hour, crowds gather in the square to witness its delightful mechanical puppet show – it's truly a spectacle!

Climb up to the clock tower's observation deck for an absolutely breathtaking panoramic view of the Old Town and the entire cityscape of Prague!

The entrance fee for adults is 300CZK (approximately ~$15), but if you have a visitor pass, you can enter for free!

Český Krumlov

Finally, let me introduce you to Český Krumlov, a charming small town located about a 2.5-hour bus ride from Prague.

This medieval village, a designated UNESCO World Heritage site, boasts picturesque alleys that truly make you feel like you've stepped into a fairytale.

St. Vitus Church, Krumlov Castle, and the Barber's Bridge are Český Krumlov's top attractions. Be sure to climb up to the Krumlov Castle viewpoint – the scenery from there is absolutely stunning!
