When you're traveling in Germany, you probably won't find many people who stick to Germany for their entire trip.

Most people usually visit nearby countries, and out of those, I chose to explore the Czech Republic!

​

​

Compared to other European cities like Paris, London, or even Germany, the Czech Republic generally offers more affordable prices.

​

Most attractions are easily walkable, and the public safety is excellent too.

​

Budget Breakdown

​

First, let's take a look at the expenses for two adults over 3 nights and 4 days, organized in a handy table.

Please note that this is the cost of a trip where we indulged in everything we wanted to do and eat!

Since it's Eastern Europe, we could definitely travel more leisurely compared to the much pricier Western European countries.

Our dining expenses were a bit high, but that's probably because we ate out for both lunch and dinner every day.

Just a heads-up, I traveled from Germany to the Czech Republic, so there were no separate flight costs for this part of the trip!

Czech Republic Itinerary

​

From Prague, the Czech Republic's most famous city, to the charming small town of Český Krumlov, I'll share the 3-night, 4-day itinerary I followed.

​

Český Krumlov is about a 2.5-hour bus ride from Prague, making it perfect for a day trip. However, if your schedule is tight, just exploring Prague is perfectly fulfilling.

Prague Castle

​

The first place I want to introduce is Prague Castle.

​

While there's no entry fee for Prague Castle itself, you'll need to purchase tickets to explore famous sites inside, like St. Vitus Cathedral and Golden Lane.

​

​

Truth be told, St. Vitus Cathedral is often the main reason people visit Prague Castle, and seeing it in person reveals a grandeur that photos simply can't capture.

​

Mucha's stained glass inside the cathedral is particularly famous, and it's definitely a must-see if you're in Prague.

Charles Bridge

​

With viewpoints offering panoramic vistas of the Old Town, Prague Castle, and the Vltava River, and a statue rumored to grant wishes, it's famous as both a Prague landmark and a beloved walking path.

​

​

During the day, the bridge is bustling and lively with many local performers and tourists, but at night, it transforms into a wonderfully romantic atmosphere.

​

Taking photos against the backdrop of Prague Castle visible in the distance from the bridge is the most iconic photo spot.

​

You don't even have to go out of your way to find it; this bridge is a must-cross to reach so many of the city's highlights. That's why I found myself snapping photos of it at all times of day—morning, noon, and night!

Old Town Square

​

Prague's Old Town Square is simply stunning, encircled by those beautiful, distinctive European buildings we all adore. Plus, it's packed with fantastic restaurants and cafes!

Beyond that, you'll often find vibrant street performances and lively markets happening here, making it a perfect spot to just wander and soak in the atmosphere.

Astronomical Clock Tower

​

The Astronomical Clock Tower, especially, is a major highlight in Old Town Square. Not only does it offer incredible panoramic views of the city, but it's also rumored to be the oldest astronomical clock in the world!

Every hour on the hour, it comes to life with a captivating 'puppet show,' and throngs of tourists gather in the square, eager to watch the spectacle unfold.

Head up to the observation deck, and you'll be treated to a breathtaking panoramic view of the city square! The entrance fee is about 300 CZK (around ~$15) per adult, but if you have a visitor pass, you can enter for free.

If you're planning to visit several attractions that require an entrance fee, it could be super efficient to book a visitor pass in advance!

Český Krumlov

Český Krumlov

Our final stop is the enchanting little town of Český Krumlov, just about a 2-hour and 30-minute bus ride from Prague.

As a UNESCO World Heritage-listed medieval town, it truly lives up to its designation, with quaint, storybook-like alleys that transport you straight into a fairytale.

St. Vitus Church, Krumlov Castle, and the Barber's Bridge are the three iconic sights that truly define Český Krumlov.

The view from Krumlov Castle's observation deck is particularly spectacular! Even on a rather cloudy day, it was absolutely stunning.

They say the 'Barber's Bridge' gets its name from a sad, legendary tale, though honestly, the truth behind it is a bit murky.

It's more likely the name came about simply because there was once a building right by the bridge that housed both a public bath and a barber. How charming is that?

Prague is actually a smaller city than you might imagine, and most of its incredible sights are easily walkable. This makes planning your exploration super straightforward!
