I’ve put together a list of the best 5 places to visit in Prague, complete with a map and insider tips.

From maps to insider tips
The top 5 must-visit places in Prague that I'll introduce in this post
are all somewhat in a straight line from Vyšehrad, making it easy to plan your route.
However, the alleys are complicated cobblestone streets, so it’s best to allow plenty of travel time.
Estimated Time: 30 minutes - 1 hour
First up, starting with Prague's Old Town Square, located furthest east!
Old Town Square is surrounded by beautiful architecture,
making it a unique space where you can see European architectural styles from different eras.
Kinský Palace > Rococo style
St. Nicholas Church > Baroque style
Church of Our Lady before Týn > Gothic style
Old Town Square is an absolute must-visit when you travel to Prague.
It's even more fascinating when you know the details, so keep that in mind :)
But the true star of Prague's Old Town Square is
the Astronomical Clock, the oldest working astronomical clock in the world.
On the hour, figures of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus pass by.
You can also go up the Clock Tower viewpoint,
but at ~$17 per person, I personally don't recommend it.
Still, the Astronomical Clock itself is worth seeing at least once :)
🌞 Insider Tip from a 6-Month Resident
At the top of the hour, pickpockets can blend in with tourists,
so always be mindful of your belongings in front of the Astronomical Clock Tower!

Charles Bridge, Prague's iconic landmark,
is just a 10-minute walk from Old Town Square.
In the past, it was the only bridge connecting Prague Castle and the Old Town.
Prague's Charles Bridge is stunning at sunrise, sunset, and night,
so if you have time, I highly recommend visiting at different times of the day!
On Charles Bridge, there's a statue commemorating a saint who refused the king's command
and was thrown into the Vltava River.
It's said that if you touch the dog on the statue, your wish will come true, so look for it :)
🌞 Insider Tip from a 6-Month Resident
If you want to take photos of a completely empty Charles Bridge,
aim for sunrise.
Estimated Time: 3 hours
A ~20-minute walk from Charles Bridge will bring you to Prague Castle.
It's where the **President's office and residence are actually located**,
much like Korea's Cheong Wa Dae (Blue House).
From the majestic and ornate St. Vitus Cathedral
to Golden Lane nestled along the castle walls and more,
as the **largest ancient castle complex in the world**, its interior is vast with plenty to see.
Just a heads-up, Prague Castle is always bustling with tourists,
so if you want to explore inside, make sure to **book in advance**!

Even if you don't go inside,
you can still catch the Changing of the Guard at the main gate,
and the **Prague Castle views** alone are worth the visit!
🌞 A tip from a 6-month resident
Personally, the best view of Prague was from
'our lday of exile' near Prague Castle.
It's relatively quiet, so definitely check it out :)

If you want to escape the crowded tourist spots and relax for a bit,
head to **Kampa Island, located right below Charles Bridge**,
and enjoy a peaceful stroll and some downtime.
Kampa Island is also a great place to enjoy a beer
while gazing at Charles Bridge and the Vltava River from the grassy lawns.
You'll feel like a **true Czech local**.
If you're interested in contemporary art, I also recommend the **Kampa Museum**.
The **John Lennon Wall**, a symbol of peace, is just a 5-minute walk away,
so it's perfect to swing by while you're visiting Kampa Island :)
🌞 A tip from a 6-month resident
The view of Charles Bridge and the Vltava River from **Legion's Bridge**,
just a 3-minute walk from Kampa Island, is also stunning.
The best part? It's much quieter with far fewer tourists than Charles Bridge!
Estimated time: ~1 hour
Vyšehrad, Prague's first royal residence,
is actually famous for its **cemetery of famous Czech personalities and its panoramic views**.
* Notably, Dvořák, Smetana, and Alphonse Mucha.
You might be thinking, "Do I really *have* to go to a cemetery?"
But the gravestones at Vyšehrad Cemetery are artistic masterpieces in themselves,
and it's laid out beautifully like a garden, giving it a **bright atmosphere**.
What's more, the **Prague view** from here
is just as breathtaking as the one from Prague Castle.
With relatively fewer tourists, you can truly soak it all in peacefully.
Although it takes about **30 minutes by tram** from the Old Town,
it's absolutely a place worth visiting.
Even the tram ride itself is a treat for the eyes, running along the Vltava River.
**Just a heads-up**: it's located on a hill, so be mindful if you're visiting with seniors!

You can beautifully admire the Charles Bridge and the Vltava River from Legion's Bridge, which is a 3-minute walk from Kampa Island. The advantage of this spot is that it's much quieter with fewer tourists than the Charles Bridge itself.
