1. October Prague Weather & What to Wear

In October, Prague's temperatures typically range from a high of 50-61°F during the day, dropping to a chilly 36-45°F in the mornings and evenings.
Expect temperatures to fall quite rapidly as you move from early to late October, and daylight hours will also become noticeably shorter.
While you might get some sunny days, there will likely be a fair share of overcast days. So, it’s a smart idea to research indoor attractions as well, which will greatly enhance your travel experience!

October Prague Weather & What to Wear | |
Early October | Long-sleeved shirt + cardigan, light jacket |
Mid-October | Sweater + light coat |
Late October | Sweater or thermal wear + heavy coat |
This is a simple guide for those wondering what to pack for Prague in October. If you're planning to take a night cruise, it gets quite chilly on the water, so I highly recommend bringing a blanket or an extra warm outer layer!
Unless you're particularly sensitive to cold, I personally don't recommend bringing a bulky puffer jacket, as it takes up a lot of space.
Plus, you'll be walking around a lot during the day, which will keep you warm, so a puffer jacket might be overkill in my opinion!

2. Recommended Places to Visit in Prague

📌 Prague Castle
Listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest ancient castle complex in the world, Prague Castle is truly a sight to behold! With attractions like St. Vitus Cathedral and Golden Lane inside, there’s plenty to see and do, making it a fantastic recommendation for families traveling to Prague.
Also, don't miss the Changing of the Guard ceremony, which happens daily at 12:00 PM. It’s quite a spectacle, but be sure to arrive early to snag a good spot!

📌 Clementinum Library
Given that October in Prague can bring occasional rainy days and shorter, often overcast days, the Clementinum Library is an excellent indoor attraction!
You can marvel at the stunning frescoes covering the ceilings and browse ancient books in this beautiful library. Plus, from the rooftop, you'll get a panoramic view of the entire Prague cityscape!
While you can purchase tickets on-site, they often limit the number of visitors, meaning long queues and potentially missing out if you don't arrive early. I highly recommend booking your visit in advance to avoid disappointment!

📌 Astronomical Clock Show & Old Town Square
Every hour on the hour, you can watch the charming puppet show at the Astronomical Clock, located in the over 600-year-old Old Town Square!
It’s not a grand spectacle, but it’s a classic Prague experience to enjoy while exploring the Old Town. Just remember that this area gets incredibly crowded, so be mindful of pickpockets!

📌 Charles Bridge
You simply can't miss Charles Bridge when visiting Prague! This iconic bridge, built in the 14th century, is a symbol of the city. Personally, I found it much more magical at night than during the day or in the morning, so keep that in mind!

📌 Dancing House
This building stands out with its unique, undulating design, resembling a pair of dancers!
If you grab a drink at the restaurant on the top floor, you can enjoy fantastic panoramic views of Prague, so definitely check it out! :)
