Prague Local Favorites 2026: A Resident's Top 3 Dining Spots
Having lived in Prague for half a year, I've explored countless eateries. Now, I'm sharing my top 3 unforgettable local favorites, including the best Koleno, for your 2026 trip!

Among the countless restaurants I visited while living in Prague for almost half a year,
I'm finally posting about the **Prague restaurants I still remember**.
Last time, I mostly featured restaurants in the Old Town,
but this time, I've purely picked my top 3 must-visit restaurants in Prague – places I'd absolutely go to again!
They might be a bit further from the city center,
but that just means they're **local favorites**, so save them and check them out if you have time!
(Some are also close to the Old Town!)
The Best Koleno in Prague is Here
Krčma
Location
Kostečná 925/4, 110 00 Staré Město
* 5-minute walk from Prague Astronomical Clock
Opening Hours
11 : 00 - 23 : 00
Google Maps Rating
4.4 (approx. 6,600 reviews)
Highlights
✔️ Famous for Koleno, a quintessential Czech dish
✔️ Vintage medieval-style interior
✔️ Great portion size and quality for the price
✔️ Recommended for those trying Koleno for the first time

Being less than a 5-minute walk from Prague's Old Town Square,
Kcrma is a Czech Koleno restaurant I often took my friends to
whenever they visited Prague.
True to its name, which means 'tavern' or 'traditional cave-like restaurant',
the restaurant's atmosphere is also a vintage medieval style,
making it a place where you'll definitely feel like you're on a European trip.

Since Koleno itself is a generous portion, it's not a super cheap dish,
but at Krčma, a 1.2kg Koleno costs 500 koruna (approximately ~$23), which is a pretty good price considering its central location.
The Koleno is absolutely delicious for the price!
I especially recommend visiting if you're trying Koleno for the first time.

Koleno is such a huge portion that two people can eat until they're bursting,
and I always ate it with a small fresh vegetable salad. They also sell other traditional Czech dishes like Svíčková and Goulash,
so if you visit with a group, I highly recommend trying them together : )

By the way, when visiting a Czech restaurant, make sure to **check if it's draft beer or not**.
Bottled beer and draft beer are on completely different levels!
Krčma has Pilsner and Kozel draft beer : )
If You Love Lasagna
Lasagneria
Location
Korunní 35, 120 00 Praha 2-Vinohrady,
* 20-minute walk from the National Museum in Prague
Opening Hours
Mon-Fri 11 : 00 - 22 : 00
Sat-Sun 12 : 00 - 22 : 00
Google Maps Rating
4.6 (approx. 2,800 reviews)
Highlights
✔️ Prague's homemade lasagna specialty restaurant
✔️ Takeout available
✔️ Experience a local vibe

Realistically, you can't eat Koleno for all three meals during your Prague trip.
And if Korean food isn't calling your name,
I highly recommend Lasagneria, a fantastic homemade lasagna spot!
As someone who absolutely loves lasagna,
their lasagna was so delicious that I ate it multiple times.

Its location is **behind the New Town**, so it's a bit of a distance from the Old Town,
but if you want to soak in some local vibes,
it's not too out of the way, making it worth a visit.
The shop isn't huge, so **takeout is also an option**, making it
a great recommendation for when you want a light dinner : )
If you're looking for a truly authentic Prague local eatery,
Pepř a Sůl
Location
Krátkého 1, 190 00 Praha 9
** Approximately 35 minutes by tram from Prague Old Town
Opening Hours
Mon-Sat 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM
Closed on Sundays
Google Maps Rating
4.8 (approx. 2,900 reviews)
Highlights
✔️ A restaurant serving Eastern European style cuisine
✔️ A true local's hidden gem
✔️ Offers dishes like duck breast, veal schnitzel, braised rabbit leg, and more,
allowing you to experience traditional Czech home-style cooking.

Located in Prague 9, about a 35-minute tram ride from the Old Town, is
**the true local gem,** Pepř a Sůl.
When a friend from Hong Kong, whom I met in Canada, visited Prague,
I wanted to treat them to something special, so I took them here.
While it's not a high-end restaurant, it's definitely clean and inviting.

The reason I recommend this place is because
you can try **braised rabbit leg**, a common Eastern European home-style dish,
and an authentic Austrian-style **veal schnitzel**.
* The yellow check marks indicate, in order:
Roasted duck breast, braised rabbit leg, veal cheek, veal schnitzel

I tried rabbit for the first time in my life here,
and even I, who can be quite hesitant with new foods, enjoyed it thoroughly.
The meat was tender and had no gamey smell, which was fantastic.
And the mashed potatoes I had here were so good that they actually
made me fall in love with mashed potatoes! The food quality is truly excellent.
It seems everyone agrees, as it has a 4.8-star rating on Google Maps...

If you're looking for something other than more familiar Czech dishes like Koleno,
**a different kind of Czech cuisine,**
and a true local spot, then you absolutely must visit Pepř a Sůl!
Having lived in Prague for several months, I've shared three Prague eateries that I've **visited more than twice**,
and would definitely want to revisit if I travel to Prague again.
Especially today, I made sure to include some local gems that I regrettably didn't mention last time due to their accessibility,
so if you have the time, I highly recommend checking them out : )
