When planning a trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand,
choosing where to stay can be a major headache!
Since it was my first time visiting Chiang Mai,
many people recommended the Old Town as the best base,
so I looked for places nearby.

While searching for accommodation near Old Town,
I found this pool view and fell in love at first sight.....
It was the exact cozy, tropical Chiang Mai vibe
I had been dreaming of!
The pool looks like it's tucked away in the middle of a lush jungle, so beautiful...
(and it looked just as stunning in person!)
Plus, the room rate was incredibly affordable,
around ~$38 to ~$45 per night...

The big square is the Old Town
Best of all, it's just a 10-minute walk to the Old Town,
and only a 15-minute walk to the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar
and Anusarn Market!
McDonald's is also a 15-minute walk away.
Strolling over there when a cool breeze was blowing was absolutely amazing...
The absolute best! 😭

Peux Daowadung, a great value-for-money hotel near Chiang Mai's Old Town,
offers 24-hour check-in.
Some booking platforms show a check-in cut-off time,
but there is actually staff on-site 24 hours a day to help you check in.
If you're a bit worried, it's a good idea to leave a note
in the special requests when booking, letting them know
you'll be arriving after midnight.

Since there were two of us,
we booked a budget-friendly Double Room!
Sometimes the twin rooms are cheaper,
but since we were traveling as a couple, a double room was perfect~
The bed was nice and spacious.
I was worried the bedding might feel damp or humid,
but it was incredibly fresh, fluffy, and clean—so good!

It seems like the TV supports most streaming/OTT services,
but since I couldn't understand the local channels, we just stuck to YouTube.
You can also cast/mirror your phone screen to the TV,
which is super convenient!

Towels and basic amenities are provided,
and you can just ask the front desk if you need more.
If you're staying for multiple nights, they will clean your room
and replace the towels daily!

The bottled water, snacks, and everything else here are completely free!

There were even 4 cold bottles of water in the fridge,
so we could grab a refreshing drink right after checking in.

The sink is located outside the bathroom in the main living space.
Since it's kept as a dry area, it feels clean and pleasant.
The hair dryer works pretty well too!

The shower and restroom are located inside,
but you’ll definitely want to bring your own shower filter.
I only used it for a day,
and the filter already got a bit dirty... haha.
Also, since only shampoo and body wash are provided,
be sure to pack or buy your own hair conditioner.
I bought a single-use conditioner at One Nimman
and used that. It was only ~$0!

I absolutely loved that all rooms are strictly non-smoking...
And yes, durian is not allowed in the hotel!

When I woke up in the morning and looked out the window,
the local Chiang Mai vibes were just perfect.
My only slight regret is that if I had been on a slightly higher floor,
it might have been even prettier...?
If you request a high-floor room when booking,
they'll probably accommodate you. Keep that in mind!

Breakfast & Facilities

I woke up and headed down for breakfast,
but since it's complimentary,
it's best not to have super high expectations.
Still, they had all the basics covered,
including bread, fried eggs, and sausages.

For me, the Moo Ping (grilled pork skewers),
fried rice, and croissants were the highlights!
The swimming pool is located right in front of the breakfast area.
The view was so beautiful...
and it put me in such a great mood first thing in the morning...

After eating, I changed into my swimsuit
and jumped right into the pool!
But if you swim during breakfast hours,
you might get a lot of eyes on you...
So maybe come after 10:00 AM! haha

I also took some photos on the sunbeds,
and the palm trees + pool combo gave off the ultimate exotic vibe.
It was seriously so gorgeous...

I floated around on a tube I brought from home.
The water is about 1.4 meters deep, which is surprisingly deep,
so even adults can have a lot of fun here.
The hotel itself
isn't too crowded,
making it the perfect place to just relax and unwind.

It takes about 10 minutes on foot to the Old Town. The Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, Anusarn Market, and McDonald's are also just a 15-minute walk away, making it very convenient to get around.
Yes, the staff is available 24 hours a day, so you can check in late at night or in the early hours of the morning. For a smooth process, we recommend noting in your reservation requests that you will be arriving after midnight.
The pool is about 1.4 meters deep, which is a great depth for adults to enjoy swimming. Since the pool is located right in front of the breakfast area, we recommend using it after 10:00 AM if you want to avoid the gaze of diners.
Shampoo and body wash are provided in the bathroom as standard, but hair conditioner is not, so you will need to bring your own. Also, we highly recommend bringing a personal shower filter, as the tap water can make a filter dirty in just one day.
