Uncover a literary treasure in Chiang Mai's Old Town! The Lost Book Shop offers a charming escape and unique, affordable souvenirs for every wanderer.

One of the greatest joys of exploring Chiang Mai is simply letting your feet lead the way. As you wander leisurely through the ancient alleys of Old Town, you’re bound to stumble upon delightful little shops you never expected!
That’s exactly how I discovered The Lost Book Shop, a charming used bookstore that instantly captivated me. It wasn't on my itinerary, but sometimes the best discoveries are the unplanned ones.
I'll admit, I wasn't always a huge bookworm, but as I've gotten older, I've come to appreciate the magic of a good read. My boyfriend, however, is a true book lover, so passing by this gem without a peek was simply not an option!

1. An Accidental Discovery in Old Town
The Lost Book Shop truly lives up to its name, with an ambiance that feels like stepping into a treasure trove of forgotten stories. At first, I thought it was just one small room, but then I realized it extended into the neighboring space, offering a surprisingly vast collection.
Books from countless countries were mixed together, creating a wonderful opportunity to slowly browse and discover titles from all corners of the globe.

It has a completely different vibe from a new bookstore. Just looking at each book, wondering about its story and journey, made time fly by! I didn't come with a specific book in mind, but it was a perfect spot to drop in during our travels.

2. Affordable Pre-Loved Books
I didn't get a photo, but outside the shop, there was a display table with books priced at just ~$1 (20 baht). Inside, I also spotted shelves with books for ~$1 (50 baht).
The prices were so incredibly low that I couldn't help but take a closer look, and that's when one particular book caught my eye!

The cover was so appealing, I knew it would look perfect in my boyfriend's collection at home, so I decided to buy it! The fact that I stumbled upon it by chance, rather than specifically seeking it out, made the find feel even more special.

When we think of travel souvenirs, we usually picture postcards, magnets, or small trinkets. But on this Chiang Mai trip, I ended up bringing home an unexpected souvenir: a pre-loved book!
At the unbeatable price of just ~$1, and with a cover that perfectly captured the essence of a seaside escape, I felt like I'd truly found a hidden treasure!

3. A Perfect Stop on Your Old Town Stroll
The Lost Book Shop isn't necessarily a destination you need to seek out with a specific purpose, like a famous landmark. Instead, I highly recommend it as a place to pop into if you happen to discover it while walking through Chiang Mai Old Town, just like I did.
If you're a book lover, you'll definitely enjoy browsing here. And even if you're not, it's a great spot to look for affordable used books or a truly unique travel souvenir!
After all, isn't there something incredibly satisfying about finding a special item in an unexpected place during your travels?
For me, that special item was a ~$1 used book!❤️

4. My Special Souvenir
Ta-da! I brought the book home, and doesn't it just perfectly complement my coastal decor? It reminds me of the beautiful seaside views from my home, offering a little visual relaxation alongside a cherished memory from Chiang Mai. ❤️
When you're exploring Chiang Mai Old Town, by all means, enjoy the famous cafes and tourist spots. But also, take the time to wander the side streets at a relaxed pace.
You'll be amazed at the precious, unexpected places you'll discover!
That's how I stumbled upon The Lost Book Shop during my stroll, and brought home a special ~$1 book. :)

Oh, and out of curiosity, I looked up the book's title and content. It turns out to be a charming story set against the backdrop of the Greek sea! My boyfriend absolutely adores Milos Island in Greece, so it's a perfect fit, even though I didn't know it when I picked it out. That makes this accidental find even more satisfying. 🥰
