Penang Weather in February

When planning a trip to Malaysia, keep in mind that

the wet and dry seasons vary quite a bit by region.

Right now, I am staying in

Penang, and February is the peak dry season here.

Our Airbnb host mentioned that

it rained constantly until just last week,

but since we arrived,

we haven't seen a single drop of rain!

According to AccuWeather's February forecast,

most days are beautifully sunny or only slightly cloudy,

with just an occasional passing shower.

Daily lows hover around 73°F to 75°F,

while daily highs easily push past 86°F.

Both the minimum and maximum temperatures

remain highly consistent day after day.

Of course, how hot it actually feels

depends on the cloud cover and direct sunlight.

Weather app forecasts here

can change completely between morning and afternoon! 🤣

Even on days like today, which are perfectly clear and sunny,

the app might still show "partly cloudy."

✅ Mornings & Evenings

Temperatures are in the comfortable mid-70s°F,

making it incredibly pleasant to walk around and explore.

✅ Afternoons

When the sky is clear,

the sun is extremely intense.

I highly recommend heading indoors to cafes or shopping malls during peak heat.

Thanks to the dry season,

it doesn't feel suffocatingly humid.

The humidity today is sitting at a comfortable 54%.

✅ Air Quality

The air is crystal clear!

Visibility is fantastic, and you can enjoy beautiful blue skies every day.

✅ What to Wear

Since temperatures easily exceed 86°F,

lightweight summer clothing is essential.

While it's definitely too warm for long sleeves outdoors,

local shopping malls crank up the AC, which can feel quite chilly.

I recommend tossing a light cardigan or linen shirt into your bag.

Also, because the sun is incredibly strong,

don't forget UV-protection clothing, sunglasses, and plenty of sunscreen!

If you plan to visit outdoor attractions like

Penang Hill or the Penang Botanic Gardens,

I highly recommend going early in the morning to beat the heat.

Overall, February is a fantastic time to travel here because of the dry weather.

Just one quick insider tip:

While the weather is perfect, it is not the peak season for tropical fruits.

Aside from mangoes, fruits like mangosteen and durian are out of season right now.

If you're planning a trip solely for a tropical fruit feast,

February might not be your ideal month.
