Recently, I embarked on a fantastic 6-night, 7-day adventure to Malaysia, which also served as a convenient visa extension. It was truly a trip of two halves!
I kicked off my journey with a luxurious 3-night 'hotel-cation' in Kuala Lumpur, indulging in daily breakfasts at a splendid 4-5 star hotel. Then, it was time for a change of pace. I traveled by bus and ferry to Penang, where I spent 3 nights and 4 days immersed in the vibrant charm of George Town. My accommodation of choice? The Cintra Muse Hotel – a boutique-style gem offering incredible value for money.
Opened this year, 2026, I genuinely can't recommend it enough! I honestly wish I could just stay here for a month-long Penang escape.

Why the Cintra Muse Hotel is a Must-Stay in Penang, Malaysia:
✔ **Unbeatable Location!** Situated right in George Town, it's perfect for exploring Penang's attractions on foot.
✔ **Brand New & Spotless:** Having opened in 2026, the hotel is impeccably clean and modern.
✔ **Affordable Luxury:** Despite the low price, daily room cleaning is provided.
✔ **Budget-Friendly:** Rooms can be booked for around ~$30-37 per night.
✔ **Flexible Check-in:** Self-check-in is available even late at night.
✔ **Convenient Amenities:** Hot/cold water dispenser and a steam iron are on-site.
✔ **Local Breakfast Nearby:** Right next to a famous congee (porridge) spot, so no need for hotel breakfast.
Minor Drawbacks (If I Had to Pick Any):
✔ **Room Types Vary:** First-floor rooms are windowless, while second-floor rooms have windows. Be sure to check your room preference when booking. (We stayed in a windowless room and honestly slept incredibly well!)
✔ **No 5-Star Amenities:** Don't expect a breakfast buffet, pool, or gym – this is a charming boutique hotel, not a full-service resort.
✔ **Double Keys for Security:** While security is excellent, you'll need to carry both a card key and a physical key to access the building.
As of late September 2026, we booked a 3-night stay for approximately ~$111.

The hotel lobby, though compact, is an inviting space with large windows offering views of George Town – perfect for catching up on work with your laptop.

Important Information for Your Stay at Cintra Muse Penang:
Check-in: 3:00 PM
Check-out: 12:00 PM
Please note: Durian, Jackfruit, and Mangosteen are not permitted in the hotel.

We ended up booking a family room on the first floor, which featured two king beds.
While this room is ideal for a family of four, we had booked just the day before arriving in Penang, and all the windowed rooms on the second floor were already fully reserved, leaving us with this option.
Even so, a room with two king beds for around ~$30-37 a night is incredible value! It would be fantastic for families looking to explore George Town, Penang, on foot.

For enhanced security, the hotel's main entrance is always locked in the evening. Guests are provided with both a room key and a card key for access.

Four clean bath towels (two per bed) were neatly placed on the beds upon arrival.

Each room comes equipped with four IKEA mugs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, along with a selection of simple snacks and instant coffee.
This place isn't just a 'hotel' in name – they actually clean the rooms daily! Coming back to a spotless room after a day of exploring was incredibly refreshing. Plus, the snacks and coffee were replenished with different local treats each day, which was a fun bonus for sampling Malaysian goodies.

Personally, I loved that the bed's headboard was designed like a sofa, making it super comfortable for leaning back and relaxing.

The room featured a full-length mirror, a stylish wooden hanger, and lovely lighting, all contributing to a clean and inviting wooden interior aesthetic – truly excellent!

A mini-fridge conveniently placed between the beds was perfect for keeping our drinks chilled, and we certainly made good use of it for our evening beverages.
**Malaysia Travel Tip:** Alcohol taxes in Malaysia are among the highest in the world, making spirits quite expensive at local supermarkets. If you're a couple who enjoys a drink, consider bringing whiskey from duty-free!

A clever built-in closet provides ample space for your luggage, keeping the room tidy.

Instead of a traditional TV, each room is equipped with a projector, which we happily used to stream Netflix and YouTube.

We stayed in room A106.

Right outside our room, there was a hot/cold water dispenser and a steam iron.
Being right by the dispenser meant we didn't need to boil water separately and could easily refill our bottles. It was even a Coway dispenser – apparently, Korean water purifiers are highly regarded in Malaysia! A little moment of national pride there!

Umbrellas are also available in the lobby for guests to use – a thoughtful touch for unexpected tropical showers.

Late check-ins after 12:00 AM are possible, with keycards conveniently stored here for collection.
The hotel's recent opening meant everything was spotless, and its prime location within George Town was unbeatable. Even with lively bars featuring live bands late into the night just a short stroll away (about a 3-minute walk), the hotel itself offered a peaceful retreat, allowing us to enjoy George Town's vibrant atmosphere without the noise.
If I return to Penang, Cintra Muse Hotel will definitely be my top choice again!
