I've put together some insider tips and a detailed review to help you make the most of your visit.✈️

How to Book the Onsen Hot Pools Shuttle Bus in New Zealand

When you book the Onsen Hot Pools through Klook, you'll select two preferred time slots, and your booking will be confirmed for one of them.

Once your booking is confirmed, you'll receive a confirmation email. If you wish to use the shuttle bus, simply send an email to the address below.

2. Onsen Hot Pools Swimwear & Snacks

You'll need to wear a swimsuit for the Onsen Hot Pools in New Zealand.

If you don't have one, clean clothes suitable for bathing are acceptable.

The hot pool session is only 1 hour long, so it's quite brief.

I highly recommend wearing your swimsuit at your accommodation beforehand and then putting your outerwear over it.

That way, when you arrive at Onsen Hot Pools, you can simply take off your outerwear and head straight into the pool!

If you've booked the Onsen Hot Pools, snacks are included.

If two people are visiting, you can choose two drinks and two snacks.

The ice cream is delicious, so definitely give it a try! :)

3. Onsen Hot Pools Shower Facilities

The Onsen Hot Pools offer a private onsen experience.

Each room includes a shower, so you can rinse off immediately after your soak.

However, you must complete both your hot pool session and shower within the allocated 1-hour time slot.

Towels are provided at Onsen Hot Pools.

Body wash is available, but shampoo, conditioner, and lotion are not.

If you want to maximize your time in the hot pool,

I recommend just towel-drying quickly and then taking a thorough shower back at your accommodation.

The women's changing room has sinks, towels, and hair dryers, so you can dry your hair there.

4. Onsen Hot Pools Operating Hours

For reference, I visited in November (let's say November 2026 for current context).

I made sure to book my session to coincide with sunset.

In Queenstown, New Zealand, during November, sunset typically occurs around 9:00 PM.

From my actual experience,

on November 23rd, the sun didn't set immediately at 9:00 PM. Instead, from about 9:30 PM, the sky gradually transformed with beautiful yellow and red hues.

It was actually even more romantic.

I highly recommend visiting the Onsen Hot Pools during sunset.

After enjoying an hour in the private hot pools, it was completely dark outside.

The sky was filled with a blanket of stars. It was such a romantic end to our New Zealand honeymoon!💕
