Okdoenjang started with the heartfelt desire to serve customers the authentic, homemade taste of a mother's doenjang jjigae (fermented soybean paste stew). It's a fantastic Gyesan-dong restaurant that offers a hearty doenjang hotpot for lunch and delicious boiled pork (suyuk) and hotpot with drinks for dinner!

Review
Each table comes equipped with an induction cooker, and the friendly staff quickly brought out our complimentary side dishes after we placed our order.
The basic side dishes included kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) with tofu, green onion kimchi, and a special dipping sauce for the oxtail. The kimchi jjigae, in particular, was absolutely delicious!
The tofu was cut into generous chunks, and the deeply fermented kimchi, combined with tender meat, was a fantastic appetizer before the main course. Its tangy, savory flavor also made it a great pairing with drinks.
And then, our oxtail hotpot arrived! The moment the pot was placed on our table, I was struck by how incredibly generous the portion size was.
The hotpot was packed with oxtail and generously topped with fresh minari (water dropwort), giving it a truly nourishing and inviting look!
As the hotpot began to simmer, a rich aroma of oxtail broth filled the air. The soup had a clean yet incredibly deep flavor that left a lasting impression.
While the oxtail meat wasn't the kind that effortlessly falls off the bone, its chewy yet tender texture was absolutely delightful.
Paired with the fragrant minari, it was so good that I kept reaching for more, without any hint of greasiness.
And the glass noodles, soaked in that incredible broth, were truly a highlight! Hidden beneath the oxtail, there was a surprisingly generous amount, making it a satisfying dish for both a meal and a drink accompaniment.

Okdoenjang Gyeyang-gu Branch wasn't just about delicious oxtail hotpot; the quality of the side dishes and the inviting atmosphere made for a truly satisfying experience. The kimchi jjigae, in particular, was memorable, and the rich broth of the hotpot made it a perfect choice for a nourishing meal.
