When you're flying international out of Incheon Airport

and find yourself with plenty of time before takeoff,

you'll probably think, 'Should I check out an airport lounge?'

Incheon Airport is famous for two main lounges:

Matina Lounge and Sky Hub Lounge.

Today, I'm excited to share my Matina Lounge experience

along with a guide on how to get in using 'The Lounge' card benefits!

The Matina Lounge I visited is the West branch,

located near Gate 43 in Terminal 1.

📍 It is open 365 days a year from 6:00 AM

until 10:00 PM,

with last entry and food service wrapping up at 9:30 PM.

The regular entry fee is $45 for adults and $19 for children,

which can feel a bit pricey.

However, most people use card benefits through "The Lounge" app

to enter for free, so you rarely need to pay the full price!

I visited around 2:30 PM on a holiday,

and the queue was much longer than I expected.

It took about 40 to 50 minutes just to get in,

so I highly recommend heading over early if you plan to eat during peak hours.

I used a lounge benefit from a credit card

that I had pre-registered in "The Lounge" app.

If you've registered your card beforehand, just open the app,

tap 'Register Partner Card / Get Voucher' on the home screen,

and issue your voucher.

A QR code will pop up instantly, and you're good to go!

Keep in mind, though, most card benefits

only cover the cardholder.

When traveling as a couple or with friends,

you might wonder how to get your companion in.

In that case, you can purchase a separate

discounted lounge pass for them below.

Now, let's dive into the details of the Matina Lounge

and check out the overall vibe inside.

The interior mostly features 2-seater and 4-seater tables,

and the seating is arranged quite closely together.

Because there are so many tables packed into the space,

it did feel quite bustling and cozy.

Inside, the flight information screens keep you updated on departure times

and boarding statuses in real-time, so

I was able to relax and enjoy the space without worrying about missing my flight.

Next up, let's talk about the most important part of any lounge...

the food selection! Here’s a look at what they had.

The first things that caught my eye were the breads and fried foods.

Among them, what really grabbed my attention

were the cheese balls in the fried food section.

Since they're usually a bit pricey to order at restaurants,

I was thrilled to see them on the buffet line!

The salad bar featured potato salad, konjac noodles, pasta, salmon, and crab meat salad.

With so much variety, it was the perfect way to kick off the meal.

For the mains, they had bulgogi, pasta, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), croquettes, and more.

The tteokbokki was especially tempting—it had plenty of delicious sauce,

making it the perfect dip for those fried treats!

They also had one type of soup and one Korean soup available,

plus two classic cup ramyeon choices: Shin Ramyun and Tempura Udon.

To prevent people from taking them out of the lounge,

the cup noodles were stacked with their lids already partially peeled back.

For drinks, they offered wine and draft Cass beer,

and you could brew fresh coffee straight from the machine.

Though I didn't snap a photo of them, they also had canned sodas

and even ice cream bars ready for the taking!

Lastly, for dessert, there were four types of fresh fruit,

along with pudding, cakes, and various sweet pastries.

Just a heads-up, the menu might change slightly depending on the season,

so please use this as a general guide!

Next up, let me share my thoughts on

the food I tried at the Matina Lounge!

For my first plate, I grabbed a little bit of everything.

As I started adding things one by one, I realized there was surprisingly a lot to choose from!

The crab salad and pasta salad were simple but delicious options

that even kids would love,

and the salmon salad was loaded with fresh salmon and tasted amazing.

But what really stole my heart was the cheese balls.

They were crispy on the outside, and the cheese inside was

incredibly smooth and rich, almost like cream cheese.

Buying these outside can be a bit pricey,

so having them at the lounge buffet made them taste even better!

The Matina Lounge had a pretty unique take on bibimbap.

Alongside the usual veggies and gochujang sauce,

they had special toppings like chicken breast and flying fish roe,

allowing you to create a truly unique bowl.

It's absolutely perfect for anyone looking to get their final fix

of Korean food before boarding!

After tasting various dishes, for my second plate,

I went back for the salmon salad, nacho cheese, and cheese balls.

These three were my absolute favorites,

and they paired incredibly well with a cold draft beer!

To wrap up the meal, we grabbed some

ice cream bars for dessert.

It was incredibly refreshing and the perfect way to cleanse the palate!

The Matina Lounge in Terminal 1 is the perfect place to spend

your extra time before flying out.

It feels much more private than the busy duty-free area,

and since you can enjoy unlimited food and drinks buffet-style,

it makes waiting around so much more relaxing!

I highly recommend registering a lounge-eligible credit card

on apps like 'The Lounge' beforehand.
