The best spot for delicious BBQ meat is right here!

I debated whether or not to write about this accommodation, but since it brought back such wonderful travel memories, I decided to share our experience!
After finishing our northern Ganghwado itinerary, our plans for the next day were in the south (Jeondeungsa Temple), so we chose our lodging in the southern part of the island to minimize travel time.
(Booked independently via a popular Korean travel app, fully self-funded)
We knew we'd be checking in late and mostly just sleeping, so we decided to keep our accommodation budget-friendly. Our criteria were simple:
1. Affordable for four people (including any extra person charges).
2. Close to our next day's activities in the south (to avoid exhaustion on our return journey).
After comparing a few options based on these two points, we made our reservation.

After a quick stop to pick up groceries, we headed straight to the pension.

Exterior
Since I wasn't initially planning to write about the accommodation itself (more focused on the BBQ!), I didn't take many exterior photos. My apologies!
Here are some official photos from the property!

It looks like they even have a swimming pool during the summer months!
The pension has a charming, slightly older, traditional style—the kind of place you'd expect to find in a popular tourist area.
Interior
While the building itself shows its age, everything was clean, the bedding smelled fresh, and the interior was surprisingly spacious!
To find this much space at this price point on Ganghwado? It was genuinely fantastic value for money!

There was plenty of extra bedding, and we could adjust the room temperature independently.
With a combined living room and kitchen, a separate balcony, and a dedicated bedroom, we had a truly expansive space to relax in.

The dishes were a *tiny* bit greasy, but honestly, we always give them a quick wash before using them anyway, so it was no big deal. Just a minor point!
Retro Gaming Console
For us, the retro gaming console was an absolute game-changer! The kids even learned how to play Bubble Bobble from their dad!

Even the next morning, they were up and playing in their pajamas! Talk about dedicated gamers!
BBQ Area
The BBQ area is located separately outdoors, which was actually a huge plus! It meant no lingering BBQ smells inside our room, and having individual, private grilling spots created a really cozy, almost camping-like atmosphere that we loved.
The owner helped us select our BBQ spot and set a time for the charcoal to be ready. Then, we just gathered our meat and veggies in a box and headed down to start grilling.

It was around 7 PM, and the sun was just beginning to set, creating a beautiful backdrop for our photos. It truly felt like we were deep in the forest!
Some spots even had camping chairs ready for use.

The owner had recommended bringing thick cuts of meat, but we rushed our grocery shopping and just bought whatever was available. That was a slight regret.
Seriously, make sure you get some really thick, succulent cuts of pork, like you'd use for a slow-cooked pork belly! Trust me on this!
You'll be able to enjoy incredibly juicy, thick-cut pork belly!

You'll truly savor every bite of the meat here.

The owner is a true master of grilling!
They went around to each group, checking on cooking times and offering tips, ensuring we all got perfectly crispy-on-the-outside, juicy-on-the-inside meat bursting with flavor.

And oh my goodness, the whole grilled king oyster mushrooms were an absolute revelation! They were incredibly chewy and, dare I say, even more delicious than the meat itself!

The owner was also incredibly friendly. Even when I asked questions that were already covered in the text messages, they patiently and kindly explained everything to me.

This is definitely a place I'd seek out again, even if it's just for the incredible BBQ!
Is this truly the ultimate BBQ spot? I think so! We might even go back in the summer of 2026 to enjoy the swimming pool too.
