Hey there, fellow travelers!
Minimanimo here, your guide to awesome trips.
For my recent Chiang Mai adventure, my very first accommodation was a one-night stay at the Malee Hotel, perfectly situated right inside the Old Town.
A friend who spent a month living in Chiang Mai highly recommended it, and I can see why! For around ~$28, including taxes, I was able to walk to all the best eateries and attractions. The value and location were truly unbeatable.
Plus, they offer late check-ins and even showers after check-out, making it ideal for a "half-night" stay if you have a late arrival or early departure. Let me share my experience with the rooms, facilities, and overall pros and cons.
Who is Malee Hotel perfect for?
✔️ Travelers seeking accommodation in Chiang Mai's Old Town
✔️ Those looking for a clean, budget-friendly hotel around ~$28 a night
✔️ Visitors who want to explore top restaurants and sights on foot

Why I Chose Malee Hotel & Its Location
Malee Hotel's prime location within Chiang Mai's Old Town makes it super convenient for getting around. You're just a short walk from popular spots like Bart Coffee, Khun Kae's Juice Bar, Blue Noodle, the Lanna Night Bazaar, and Tha Phae Gate.

Being able to walk to cafes and restaurants meant I could make the most of my time, even on a short stay. Plus, it's only about a 20-minute drive from Chiang Mai Airport, which was a huge relief for my late-night arrival.

Check-in is handled at the 1st-floor front desk. Even though I arrived quite late, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The common area also has comfortable seating and complimentary snacks.

Beyond bananas, cookies, and chocolates, you can also enjoy complimentary cocoa, Thai tea, and cappuccino.

When I booked, Agoda offered the best rate, but prices can fluctuate. I recommend comparing booking sites like Agoda and MyRealTrip before making your reservation to ensure you get the best deal.

Rooms & Shared Facilities
Each floor features a common area and a water dispenser, so you can refill your personal water bottle for free.

The rooms are designed with marble floors and bright walls, and I found them to be impeccably clean overall.

With a full-length mirror, a long desk, and a chair, getting ready or enjoying a meal in your room is easy. I even ordered Chang Phueak Suki via Grab one evening and savored a late-night snack right in my room!

While some reviews mentioned the beds being firm, I found the bedding to be wonderfully fresh and cozy, allowing me to sleep very comfortably.

There was ample space in the room, even with two suitcases spread out. You'll also find complimentary bottled water, a refrigerator, a kettle, and tea.

Opening the window in the morning reveals a peaceful village scene, allowing you to soak in the tranquil atmosphere unique to the Old Town.

While there isn't a formal breakfast, simple sandwiches are available on the first floor each morning, perfect for a quick bite with some Thai tea.

Bathroom & Amenities
Right next to the room's entrance is a spacious bathroom. The marble counter above the sink offered plenty of space for my toiletries and cosmetics, and I was pleased with both the water pressure and hot water in the shower.

I didn't use a separate shower filter, but I didn't experience any issues during my stay. Arriving late at night after a flight, a warm shower was exactly what I needed to wash away the travel fatigue.

Final Thoughts
