Lucia's Garden Gongju: Unforgettable Hanok Cafe & Milk Tea

In this post, I'm excited to share a gem I discovered during my summer vacation to Gongju,

a Gongju café that I'm so glad I visited: Lucia's Garden (Lucia-ui Tteul).

The ambiance was absolutely delightful, with its beautiful hanok (traditional Korean house) and garden, and even adorable cats,

but most of all, it was where I found the milk tea of my life, which I ended up ordering again and again!

It's a place I absolutely have to recommend to anyone planning a trip to Gongju, so let's dive into the detailed review!

2. Menu Introduction & Milk Tea Review

☕ Today's Milk Tea (single serving): ~$7 × 3 = ~$20

My friend and I went together, and it was truly the milk tea of a lifetime – we just had to order it three times!

You can't choose the teapot; it's given randomly,

but both sets my friend and I ordered came in absolutely gorgeous teapots, which made us so happy.

[Burleigh Teapot]

Burleigh is a traditional British pottery brand,

and this teapot, with its subtle charm, was truly eye-catching.

Sipping milk tea from it felt incredibly elegant, and I was absolutely delighted.

[Noritake Bone China]

The Noritake teapot, with its charming and refreshing feel, also completely won me over.

Noritake Bone China is a Japanese brand, and its delicate aesthetic was simply beautiful.

I had thought the combination of a hanok and a black tea teapot set might feel a bit unbalanced,

but paired with Korean traditional snacks, it actually looked even more unique and beautiful.

☕ And now for the most important part: the milk tea's flavor!

I'm a huge fan of both straight black tea and milk tea,

so I've tried various black teas and milk teas at countless cafés.

From places that brew cheap tea bags and add syrup,

to places like Lucia's Garden that properly brew tea leaves in a teapot, I've visited quite a range.

However, if I were to evaluate it purely based on 'the taste of the milk tea,'

I don't think I've ever tasted a milk tea as rich and deep as Lucia's Garden before.

It had the perfect balance—not too sweet, not too weak—with a deep, rich black tea aroma and flavor.

My eyes widened from the very first sip!

It was a truly captivating milk tea that kept me coming back for more. ☕️

Travel bloggers and YouTubers who have visited Gongju often recommend it so highly,

insisting that you must try the milk tea at Lucia's Garden.

And after tasting it myself, I immediately understood why.

The teapot was quite plump, meaning there was a generous amount,

but it was so delicious that I quickly emptied it and ordered the same milk tea again.

This milk tea teapot was also incredibly pretty, though I can't quite remember the brand name!

I wondered if there would be any difference in the milk tea's consistency or taste when ordering the same menu item consecutively,

but I was pleased to find that it maintained the same perfectly balanced flavor as the first cup.

3. Lucia's Garden Ambiance (Hanok Garden · Interior)

Lucia's Garden was an atmospheric hanok cafe, brimming with charm.

As you venture down the alley, you'll spot the Lucia's Garden sign at the entrance.

Even though it was a weekend, there were more empty seats than I expected when we visited, so we could explore at our leisure.

Not long after we settled down, customers started trickling in one by one,

and it quickly filled up until there were no empty seats left.

Upstairs, there was also an attic-style space.

My friend and I decided to settle in here.

There were two seating areas in the attic, and this is what it felt like looking down from there.

Since we had already bought pajamas and snacks from Gongju Sanseong Market and carried them all the way,

we sat in the inner seats, and it was incredibly cozy and wonderful.

By the way, the attic also had a variety of books, including the poetry collection in the photo,

making it a perfect spot for solo travelers to reflect and unwind.

I thought some of you might be curious about the first-floor cafe entrance too,

so I took photos of various spots.

With a wonderful array of tea wares, teapots, and black tea tin cases,

just browsing them brought so much joy!

Antique items and books were dotted throughout, enhancing the stylish interior,

and adding to the already cozy atmosphere.

Lucia's Garden is also famous for its scones,

and I'm so sad I couldn't try one since we visited right after a meal that day.

Freshly baked scones were cooling on the counter,

and the aroma of butter was absolutely divine.

I'll definitely try the scones next time I visit!

Below the counter, various postcards and posters were also for sale.

The map of Gongju village, which looked hand-drawn, was particularly charming.

True to its name, Lucia's Garden was also lovely for a stroll in the garden.

While not vast, it was filled with a variety of flowers and had outdoor tables,

making it seem perfect for sipping milk tea at an outdoor table in spring or autumn.

Honestly, the best reason to absolutely take a garden stroll at Lucia's Garden is none other than

this adorable cat!

In person, it was a tiny cat, still just a baby.

It was so cute that I approached it, and it happily let me pet it – truly heartwarming!

It even ate the Churu treat I brought – another heartwarming moment!

If you're a cat lover, make sure to say hello to the resident felines! Haha!

4. Overall Thoughts

If you ask me what was the most memorable part of my Gongju trip,

I'd unhesitatingly choose Lucia's Garden – it was truly satisfying!

With its tranquil hanok, cozy attic, beautiful teapots and tea sets,

a small garden blooming with flowers, and even cute cats, this Gongju cafe was a healing space in itself.

Most of all, I've had milk tea in many places, but

the rich and deep flavor of the milk tea here, which I ordered and drank three times in one sitting, is what I remember most.

Next time, I definitely want to try the scones, which I could only smell the fragrant butter of last time!

It's also great to visit alongside Gongju Sanseong Market, so if you're looking for a cafe in Gongju

or planning your Gongju travel itinerary, I highly recommend visiting!

For me, everything from the ambiance to the milk tea taste was satisfying,

it was literally my ultimate favorite cafe and milk tea spot in Gongju. ☕️🌿🐈
