The Gongju Maru Hotel, which I was so thrilled to find, turned out to have an absolutely fantastic location!
It’s only about a 10-minute walk from Gongju Intercity Bus Terminal, making it ideal for those relying on public transport or simply enjoying a walk. Plus, Mirseom and Geumgang Singwan Park are also within easy walking distance, making it a perfect spot for leisurely strolls.
And if you’re traveling by car, no worries at all! The building offers ample dedicated parking. With spacious areas on both the first and second floors, parking here is a breeze!

The area is also packed with convenience stores, great restaurants, and cozy cafes, making it perfect for grabbing a late-night snack or enjoying an evening stroll.
1. Checking In at Gongju Maru Hotel
After parking in Maru Hotel's dedicated lot, I stepped into the first-floor lobby, which had a straightforward, clean, and welcoming vibe!

Check-in was super quick and easy! We had booked for three people, so we just settled the additional charge right there.

After checking in, we took the elevator up to our room! Turns out, the hotel had even been selected as an excellent accommodation establishment 👀

The hallways and overall maintenance were also impressive, making me think this would be an excellent choice for anyone looking for a value-for-money hotel in Gongju!
Of course, we were extremely satisfied too.
2. Room Condition and Atmosphere
Room Used: Royal Suite
The room we booked was the Royal Suite.
The room was much wider and more pleasant than I expected, so I found myself repeatedly thinking,
"Oh? It's spacious? This is great!"

With two king-sized beds,
there was plenty of space for two adults, and even three could comfortably spread out
and get a great night's sleep.

The bedding was also spotless white,
fluffy, and cozy, ensuring we had a wonderfully deep sleep.

One thing I absolutely loved!
There was a Styler (a clothing care system, like LG Styler) in the room.

After waiting in lines all day and
walking around the festival grounds,
I was sure my clothes had picked up some dust and smells.
But no problem at all when you pop them into the Styler, right? Hoho!

Another great perk: you can watch all OTT services
for free on the TV, so you won't miss out on your favorite
variety shows or dramas.

There was also a small table and chairs,
perfect for enjoying snacks we bought in the evening or
doing a bit of light work.
3. Bathroom and Amenities
The bathroom only provides body wash, shampoo, and conditioner
as standard, so make sure to bring your own personal toiletries,
including a toothbrush and toothpaste!

The bathroom mirror was clean and a good size,
perfect for checking your OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) before heading out!

The bathroom itself was really spacious and
exceptionally clean (note: no bathtub!).
However, there's one thing you should be aware of.
The window between the bathroom and the main room
was made of frosted glass.

While it's not transparent so you can't see details,
it does show silhouettes. So, if you're traveling with someone you're still a bit awkward with,
it's good to know in advance, right? Wouldn't want any embarrassing moments! 😇
Not only was there a hairdryer,
but thoughtfully, a hair straightener was also provided,
so you can make sure your hair looks perfect for the next day's adventures.
4. Essential Checks Before Booking Gongju Maru Hotel!
⑴ Price Range?
The 'Royal Suite' we stayed in
is usually a fantastic value, costing around ₩60,000-₩70,000 (~$45-~$53) per night for two people.
However, since we visited on a Friday at the start of a long holiday weekend
during festival season, we paid around ₩110,000 (~$83).
Additional person fees can be paid on-site.
⑵ Late-Night Snacks and Nearby Amenities
There are plenty of great restaurants and convenience stores near the hotel,
so it's easy to order delivery or get takeout and enjoy it at your room's table.
If you're tired, I highly recommend getting takeout from a local eatery!
⑶ Want to take a stroll?
You can easily walk to Mirseom (미르섬), where seasonal flowers bloom,
and Geumgang Shingwan Park (금강신관공원), which is perfect for a leisurely stroll.
It's great for an evening walk to see the night views
or a light run in the morning.
5. Overall Review
Because it was during the autumn festival period,
Finding accommodation was really tough,
but thanks to my sister who searched diligently,
I was able to stay at a comfortable hotel,
which was such a relief.
