- The walk itself takes less than 10 minutes, making it ideal for a quick visit.
- Parking is available at the nearby gym or Jeongancheon Ecological Park's public lot.

Gongju Metasequoia Road (공주 메타세콰이어길) is a delightful spot where you can stroll through a tree tunnel, approximately 0.3 miles (500 meters) long, absolutely free of charge.
When I actually walked it, the path was so short it took less than 10 minutes one way. However, the vibrant summer scenery was even more beautiful than I expected.
Nearby, Jeongancheon Ecological Park (정안천 생태공원) offers stunning lotus flowers and crape myrtles, making it a perfect, light stop during your trip to Gongju (공주).
Discovering Metasequoia Road on My Third Visit to Gongju
It was my third time exploring Gongju. After stopping by a cafe in Singwan-dong (신관동) and visiting the Baekje Cultural Hall (백제문화전당), I found myself wondering where to go next.
As I browsed through a list of Gongju attractions I had saved on my map, the Metasequoia Road caught my eye.

While the route wasn't perfectly aligned with my previous stops, I was so glad I made the detour once I arrived and started walking! The perfectly straight, towering trees were incredibly beautiful.
Gongju Metasequoia Road: Location, Parking, and Entrance Fee

Gongju Metasequoia Road is conveniently located near Jeongancheon Ecological Park. There's a gymnasium right next to the walking path, and we utilized its parking lot.
You can also find public parking at Jeongancheon Ecological Park itself, so if you're driving, it's a good idea to check the exact location beforehand.
Unlike its famous counterpart in Damyang (담양), Gongju Metasequoia Road doesn't have a separate entrance fee, which means anyone can enjoy a stroll freely – a definite plus!
The Vibrant Summer Scenery of Gongju Metasequoia Road

As soon as we parked and stepped onto the path, the tall Metasequoia trees lining both sides of the road immediately captured our attention.
During our summer visit, the leaves were a brilliant, uniform green.

The trees, planted at regular intervals, stretched out endlessly, creating the sensation of walking through a magnificent green tunnel.
If you're looking for a picturesque natural spot in Gongju for some stunning photos, you'll surely love the summer scenery here.
Gongju Metasequoia Road: Walk Duration & Jeongancheon Ecological Park
One important thing to know before you visit is that the walking path is shorter than you might expect.
Walking the entire approximately 0.3-mile (500-meter) section from start to finish took us less than 10 minutes! Of course, if you pause to take photos or slowly soak in the scenery, you'll need a bit more time. But if you're just looking to walk the tree-lined path itself, it's not a place to linger for hours.

Instead, I highly recommend extending your stroll to include the nearby Jeongancheon Ecological Park!

Adjacent to the Metasequoia Road, you'll find a loess path where you can walk barefoot, and the ecological park boasts its own separate walking trails.

During our summer visit, we were delighted to see crape myrtles and lotus flowers in bloom. What started as a trip solely for the Metasequoia trees turned into a diverse flower-gazing experience, exceeding our expectations. The lilyturf (맥문동) beneath the trees was also quite lovely!
Gongju Metasequoia Road: Autumn Foliage in October?

While I visited in the summer, I've heard that in autumn, the trees transform into stunning shades of yellow and red, offering a completely different atmosphere.
The peak foliage season typically runs from mid-October through November, though this can vary depending on the weather, so keep that in mind.
If you're planning a visit specifically for the autumn leaves, I highly recommend checking the most recent reviews for up-to-date conditions.
How Does it Compare to Damyang Metasequoia Road?
Having visited Damyang Metasequoia Road (담양 메타세콰이어길) before, I naturally found myself comparing the two locations.

There's a definite difference in scale. Compared to Damyang, Gongju's path is shorter and offers fewer attractions.
If you're expecting a long, extended stroll along a tree-lined avenue, you might find it a bit underwhelming. However, the upside is that there's no entrance fee, and despite its shorter length, the Metasequoia scenery itself is beautiful. I actually appreciated Gongju's more manageable size, as it was perfect for a quick, unburdened stop during my trip.
📍 Gongju Metasequoia Road Address:
905-1 Cheongnyong-ri, Uidang-myeon, Gongju-si, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea
On my third trip to Gongju, I visited this spot after struggling to decide on my next destination, picking it from my saved map locations.
While the travel route wasn't ideal, the sight of the verdant trees stretching in a straight line exceeded all my expectations! However, since the path is quite short, it's better to combine your visit here with other attractions in Gongju rather than dedicating a large portion of your day solely to it.
If you're looking for a free walking path or a scenic spot for photos in Gongju, this place is definitely worth a visit!
