It was my third visit to Gongju (공주).
Even though I'd already visited twice,
I looked around and realized there were still many places
I hadn't been to yet, more than I expected! Haha.
This time, from cafes to indoor attractions,
nature trails, and great restaurants,
I explored a total of 6 spots in one day.
The actual order of my visits was:
Mrs. Pibery (미세스피베리) → Baekje Cultural Center (백제문화전당) →
Gongju Metasequoia Road (공주 메타세콰이어길) → Bakery Bam Ma-eul (베이커리밤마을) →
Jangpung Jjajang (장풍짜장) → 1967 Hoseo Theater (1967호서극장).
After visiting this way, I felt the itinerary could have been a bit more efficient.
So, this time, based on my personal experience,
I've reorganized the recommended Gongju day trip itinerary!
Recommended Order for a Gongju Day Trip
① Gongju Metasequoia Road
② Mrs. Pibery
③ Baekje Cultural Center
④ Bakery Bam Ma-eul
⑤ Jangpung Jjajang
⑥ 1967 Hoseo Theater
This itinerary starts with a nature walk, followed by a break at a cafe,
then enjoying indoor attractions and local Gongju delicacies,
and finally, concluding in the old downtown area.
It's different from the actual order of my visit,
but if I were to travel again, I'd definitely follow this route! Haha.
1. Gongju Metasequoia Road
The first place I recommend is
the Gongju Metasequoia Road,
located near Jeongancheon Ecological Park (정안천 생태공원).
My spouse and I visited this place for the third time,
but if we were to go again, I think we'd start our Gongju trip here!

Along both sides of the approximately 500m long walking path,
Metasequoia trees line the way.
Perhaps because we visited in summer,
the lush green scenery was incredibly refreshing.

However, the path itself is quite short,
taking less than 10 minutes to walk,
which left me feeling a little disappointed.
On the bright side, admission is free,
and the surrounding Jeongancheon Ecological Park is quite beautiful,
making it a recommended place to visit in Gongju
for a light stroll or taking photos.
2. Mrs. Pibery
Next up is Cafe Mrs. Pibery,
located in Gongju's Singwan-dong (신관동).
It was actually the first place
we visited on our trip.

What really stuck with me here was
their fresh plum ade!
The season for fresh plums has passed,
so it might be hard to taste the fresh plum ade now,
but they also have a variety of fruit-based drinks and bingsu (shaved ice desserts),
so keep that in mind when you visit.

And when you're traveling by car,
cafe parking can be a bit of a concern, right?
Mrs. Pibery has convenient parking,
making it easy to stop by without any hassle.
I recommend it as a perfect spot to take a break
after a walk on the Metasequoia Road!
3. Baekje Cultural Center
Third is the Baekje Cultural Center,
which I'd highly recommend as an indoor attraction in Gongju.
Honestly, before visiting,
I didn't have high expectations
for how much there would be to see.

But once I went inside,
the media art was surprisingly good!
When I used to think of Gongju (공주), outdoor attractions like
Gongsanseong Fortress (공산성) and the Royal Tomb of King Muryeong (무령왕릉) were usually the first to come to mind.
So, it was a pleasant surprise to discover these wonderful indoor spaces.

They seem like excellent places to include in your itinerary,
especially during seasons when outdoor activities are challenging,
like summer or winter.
Personally, this was one of the spots on this trip
that exceeded my expectations!
4. Bakery Bam Ma-eul (베이커리밤마을)
If you've come to Gongju,
you can't leave out the chestnut-based treats, right?
My fourth recommendation is **Bakery Bam Ma-eul**, famous for its chestnut pies.

Actually, on my first visit,
I couldn't overcome the barrier of the wait,
so I ended up leaving without trying the chestnut pie.
That's why I was determined to try it this time.

Eventually, after waiting for about 30 minutes,
I finally got to taste the chestnut pie! Haha!
Perhaps because it was a treat I missed out on once before,
the taste was even more memorable.

If you're looking for chestnut desserts or edible souvenirs during your Gongju trip,
this is a place worth stopping by.
However, you might have to wait like we did, so please factor in ample waiting time.
5. Jangpung Jjajang (장풍짜장)
My fifth recommendation is the Gongju Chinese restaurant, Jangpung Jjajang (장풍짜장).

The jjamppong here was so delicious when I first visited,
it truly stuck in my memory.
The taste kept calling me back, so I revisited this popular eatery
just a week later! (A quick re-visit possible because I live in Sejong City (세종시)! lol)

While their jjajang dishes are also good,
my husband and I both especially enjoyed the jjamppong.
The tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) is also delicious, so I recommend ordering it together.
If you're craving Chinese food in Gongju,
you might want to add this to your list of options.
6. 1967 Hoseo Theater (1967호서극장)
Finally, there's the **1967 Hoseo Theater (1967호서극장)**, where you can enjoy classic films.

We also visited this spot as the last item on our itinerary for the day.

Unlike typical tourist attractions,
the experience of spending time watching classic films felt quite unique.
What's more, if you time it right,
you can enjoy classic films and a media art exhibition
all at once!

Personally, the media art at 1967 Hoseo Theater had many aspects that were a bit disappointing,
so I recommend visiting to align with the classic film screening times!
I recommend enjoying both.

And you can connect to explore the nearby Gamyeong-gil (감영길) and Jemincheon Stream (제민천).
It's great to enjoy a trip through Gongju's (공주) old town together.
It's a place I'd recommend to those who have visited Gongju multiple times, like us,
or those looking for a slightly more unique travel destination!
Even though it was my third trip to Gongju,
I was able to discover several new places this time.
In particular, the summer scenery of Metasequoia Road (메타세콰이어길),
the Baekje Cultural Center (백제문화전당) which was better than expected,
and Jangpung Jjajang (장풍짜장) which we revisited, are what stand out in my memory.
Our itinerary was a bit regrettable as we mostly sought out places we wanted to visit day-by-day, but
if I were to go again, I'd start with a stroll,
then enjoy cafes, indoor tourist attractions, and food,
and probably finish up in the old town.
