Dreaming of a London adventure for the upcoming early May holidays?
The UK has always been known for its higher cost of living, but with the pound's exchange rate reaching new highs, budget concerns for travelers have naturally increased.
So, if you're looking for clever ways to make your travel budget go further, you're definitely in the right place!
Today, I'll share all my best tips and tricks, including how I saved money during my own adventure in London, UK!

Next up, let's dive into how to find incredible value accommodation in London, UK.
One of the biggest puzzles I faced while planning my London trip was definitely finding the right hotel.
Go too cheap, and you worry about the quality; but if you start prioritizing location and room comfort, you're looking at at least ~$207 per night, which makes finding the perfect hotel surprisingly tough!

That's why my go-to alternative was exploring London's Korean guesthouses (often called 'Hanin Minbak').
Most of these guesthouses are run by Korean owners, which means you'll often find excellent standards of cleanliness and diligent management, especially when it comes to common concerns like bed bugs.

Plus, with a little searching, you can often find fantastic central locations where 📍 two people can stay for around ~$138 per night, making them a significantly more affordable option than traditional hotels!
I've linked my top recommendation below – a Korean guesthouse in London that offered the best balance of location and value during my trip. Feel free to check it out!

London is absolutely brimming with incredible landmarks and historical sites, both within the city center and in its charming outskirts.
However, with admission fees often ranging from ~$14 to ~$35 or even more, purchasing individual tickets for each can quickly add up and become a real financial strain.
If you're someone who wants to visit many different attractions but
keep your expenses to a minimum, then the perfect pass for you to use
is the 'London Pass'.
By using the London Pass wisely, you can typically enjoy
a city tour for roughly half the price of standard admission tickets.

The chart above shows our actual route when my husband and I
used the London Pass Plus 3-day pass during our trip to London last year.
Considering the current exchange rate (approximately 2,000 KRW per pound),
a 3-day London Pass Plus costs around ~$235,
meaning you can actually save nearly half on your expenses!

If you're heading to London, you absolutely have to catch a musical, right?
You can book musical tickets through various agencies,
but often they tend to be more expensive than the official prices.

As a side note, here's a seating tip when booking musicals:
I recommend grabbing front-row tickets, which are usually the cheapest available.
That way, if there are empty, more expensive seats nearby when the musical starts,
you might be able to move to those seats.
(Please note that this can vary by theater, so just keep it in mind.)
Next, I'll share tips on how to save on your food expenses.

Honestly, there are so many delicious restaurants in the UK.
Fish and chips, burgers, they're all tasty, but they can be pricey, often exceeding ~$21 per person.
Dining out often means a meal for two can easily approach ~$69.
Therefore, I recommend having at least one meal a day
from a supermarket.

Of course, even convenience foods from the supermarket aren't
always super cheap if bought individually.
However, you can get great value if you buy items marked with a 'Meal Deal.'
A Meal Deal is a package where you can buy three items –
a main, a side/snack, and a drink – as a set at a reduced price
from supermarkets or convenience stores.
You can usually get a satisfying meal for roughly ~$7 to ~$10, so it's incredibly good value!
During my UK trip, I always sorted out my breakfast and dinner with a Meal Deal.

London, being a city steeped in history, offers countless sights to see,
both in the city center and its surrounding areas.
The only real concern is London's cost of living, which is roughly
2 to 3 times more expensive than back home.
So today, I shared some of the ways I personally saved on travel expenses
during my trip.
If you keep these tips in mind and apply them,
you could truly save hundreds of dollars or more on your expenses.
(Food and hotel costs are genuinely steep!)

Wishing you an absolutely fantastic London adventure!
