It's Jjini here, and can you believe Christmas 2026 is just around the corner?

I'm thrilled to bring you a glimpse into the magical Christmas scenery of London, UK – truly the highlight and epitome of romance for any winter European getaway.

While winter days in London see the sun set early, the city truly comes alive after dark. Thanks to its dazzling illuminations and charming Christmas markets, London becomes even more romantic as night falls.

Today, I'll be sharing my favorite spots, from the breathtaking angel lights on Regent Street to the quaint streetscapes of the lively Soho area, all places I absolutely fell in love with during my visit.

The Heart of London's Christmas Magic:

Regent Street

Isn't it just stunning? While photos capture some of its beauty, experiencing it in person is truly awe-inspiring.

This is undoubtedly the most photographed spot during a London winter trip – Regent Street!

As evening descends, the entire street glows with a golden hue, making you feel like the star of your own movie just by walking along. It's an absolutely enchanting experience.

The stretch of road connecting Piccadilly Circus Station to Oxford Circus Station is where the magic happens.

✨Most Famous Spot✨

During the Christmas season, Fortnum & Mason transforms its entire facade into a giant advent calendar, a grand tea gift box, or a festive red ribbon theme. It's a truly iconic spot for photos, and I made sure to snap a picture there too. This is usually where the biggest crowd gathers!

Directly connected to Regent Street and Oxford Street is Bond Street!

This street is home to numerous luxury brand boutiques.

While it's a prime destination for shopping, the exteriors become even more spectacular during the festive season.

Simply admiring the decorated building facades is a delight in itself!

Thousands of Golden Lights:

Harrods Department Store

Harrods Department Store is another popular attraction for many tourists during the Christmas season.

I took photos outside and explored the inside of the department store. Many visitors were busy buying gifts here.

The walk to Harrods is also quite picturesque, so we opted to go on foot.

After enjoying the dazzling lights, you can't miss the Christmas markets, filled with warm treats and charming crafts!

1) Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

This is London's largest theme park-style market, featuring rides, a Ferris wheel, and an ice rink.

Operating Period: November 19, 2026, to January 3, 2027

Location: Hyde Park

2) Southbank Centre Winter Market

This romantic market boasts the iconic London Eye as its backdrop.

Operating Period: Mid-November 2026 to late December 2026

Tips for Enjoying Christmas in London ✨

1. Avoid Christmas Week

This is absolutely CRUCIAL! Avoid traveling during Christmas week itself!

The reason? In the UK and much of Europe, the period around Christmas and New Year's is traditionally spent with family.

Many shops and attractions close, significantly reducing the things to see and do.

When I went precisely on Christmas Day, almost everything was closed. We ended up eating in Chinatown, and even there, the meal costs were much higher than usual.

I highly recommend visiting in late November or early December.

2. Pack Comfortable Shoes

The sheer number of people makes public transport quite challenging during this period.

I ended up walking everywhere, so bringing comfortable shoes is definitely a must.

3. Book a Well-Located Accommodation

While this might seem obvious, it made a huge difference for me. I booked a hotel near Piccadilly, which allowed me to walk to all the Christmas markets and illumination displays.

I stayed at The Z Hotel Piccadilly.

Based on late November rates, Agoda seemed to offer the best prices.
