While preparing for my Lisbon trip,
I also wondered if just buying a transport pass would be enough,
or if I should buy the Lisboa Card.
The Lisboa Card is a
Lisbon tourist pass that includes free entry to over 50 museums and attractions,
as well as unlimited use of buses, trams, and the subway.
It comes in three types: 24-hour, 48-hour, and 72-hour passes,
allowing you to choose the duration that best fits your travel itinerary.

But when it came time to actually buy one,
I started to worry if it would really be worth it.
Would it be better to just buy a transport card?
Could I really get my money's worth with the Lisboa Card?
Which one should I get: the 24, 48, or 72-hour pass?
These are probably thoughts everyone has when researching the Lisboa Card.
Plus, trying to calculate attraction admission fees, bus fares, and tram costs
by looking up each one on different websites
is time-consuming and a hassle.
So, based on iconic Lisbon sights you absolutely must visit,
like the UNESCO World Heritage Site Jerónimos Monastery and
the Belém Tower, a symbol of the Age of Discoveries,
I personally calculated all the admission fees and transportation costs.
For each Lisboa Card type,
I'll break down ① how much you need to visit to break even,
② where to buy it for the cheapest price right now,
and even how to get discounts.
And we, with our 48-hour pass,
visited seven attractions.
In hilly Lisbon,
whenever we got tired of walking, we'd just hop on a bus or tram at the nearest stop.
Not having to worry about transportation costs separately each time
was incredibly convenient and a huge relief.

I'll also share my experience using the Lisboa Card, which more than paid for itself,
including my review of the 48-hour pass!
Just a Transport Pass?
Or the Lisboa Card?
If you plan to visit the Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower,
the 24-hour Lisboa Card
will already pay for itself with just the admission fees for these two places.
And on top of that, it includes unlimited use of buses, trams, and the subway.

The 24, 48, and 72-hour passes only differ in their validity period;
the free attraction entry and public transportation options are the same across all of them.
To see how much more advantageous it is compared to buying transport and admission tickets separately,
I've compared them using the same criteria.
For transportation costs,
I calculated based on using a [24-hour unlimited bus, tram, and subway pass]
for 1, 2, and 3 days respectively.
※ Checked on October 31, 2026 ※

48-hour Pass | €51 | €14.50 | €36.50 |
72-hour Pass | €62 | €21.75 | €40.25 |

Official Website vs. Klook:
Where can you find a better deal?
The Lisboa Card
can also be booked directly on the official website.

However, since the official website is in English and only accepts Euro payments,
I also compared prices on Klook, where you can easily find product descriptions
and payment options in your local currency and language.
Upon comparison, for a single adult card,
I found that even without applying any discount coupons,
Klook is actually cheaper than the official website's regular price!
And if you factor in discount coupons
or any applicable credit card payment benefits,
you can lower the final price even further,
making it definitely more advantageous to purchase through Klook!
※ As of October 31, 2026,
prices may vary based on exchange rates.
Card Type | Official Website Regular Price | Klook |
24-Hour Card | 31 euros (~$35) | ~$35 |
48-Hour Card | 51 euros (~$57) | ~$57 → With discount coupon applied ~$55 |
72-Hour Card | 62 euros (~$69) | ~$69 → With discount coupon applied ~$68 |
When you're planning a trip,
it's always great to save even a few dollars, right?
You can compare prices after applying
coupons and payment benefits
from platforms you usually use to find the best deal.
⭐️Pro Tip⭐️
Klook discount codes
are coupons that can be used for other travel products
besides the Lisboa Card, so
I highly recommend saving them all in advance.

First, you can register the discount code
in your Klook coupon wallet or
enter it in the discount code input field before payment.

Lisboa Card 48-Hour Pass,
What was it like using it myself?
With the 48-hour pass,
we explored a total of 7 attractions:
Jerónimos Monastery, São Jorge Castle, Monument to the Discoveries,
Rua Augusta Arch, Ajuda National Palace, Royal Treasure Museum,
and the Lisboa Story Centre.

If you calculate the current adult admission fees,
the total comes to 84 Euros!
Even compared to the official 48-hour pass at 51 Euros,
we saved 33 Euros even before factoring in transportation costs.
When I traveled,
the Belém Tower and Santa Justa Lift were not operating,
so we only saw their exteriors.

Still, by visiting 7 other attractions
and using public transportation,
the 48-hour pass more than paid for itself.
And we visited the Belém district
two days in a row.
It's where Lisbon's iconic landmarks converge,
including Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, and the Monument to the Discoveries.
There's also 'Pastéis de Belém',
the original egg tart bakery, making it
a perfect route to combine sightseeing with a delicious egg tart tasting.
(We even visited here twice, haha!)

Having experienced it myself, I found
Lisbon's hilly streets even more challenging than Porto's.
So, whenever we got tired from walking,
we'd hop on a bus or tram
at the nearest stop.
Thanks to the unlimited public transport benefit, we could
We really got to make the most of it!

We even got to ride Lisbon's famous yellow Tram 28, which winds through the old town's main attractions!
We took it all the way from the starting stop to the final stop,
and then hopped back on for the return journey –
a total of two rides!

Every time we hopped on public transport,
not having to stress about extra fares truly made us feel like
getting the Lisboa Card was a brilliant move! 😄
Receiving the Lisboa Card,
Where to exchange and activate it?
Vouchers purchased online can be exchanged for a physical card at a
Lisbon Tourist Office (Ask Me Lisboa).
We picked ours up at the Commerce Square Tourist Office.

Once you write the start date and time on the back of the card,
and tap it for the first time on a public transport validator,
your card usage officially begins.
From that moment on, you can use it continuously for your chosen 24, 48, or 72 hours.

If you're planning to explore various tourist spots,
traveling between Lisbon's city center and the Belém district frequently, just like we did,
and also use public transport often,
then we truly recommend the Lisboa Card –
it lets you handle all your sightseeing and transportation needs
with just one card!
