Happy Record's 17 Nights, 19 Days
🇪🇸Spain & Portugal Self-Guided Trip🇵🇹
Lisbon was the final city on this trip!
We took the CP train from Porto
to Lisbon's Santa Apolónia Station,
and our itinerary included a 3-night stay.
So, when choosing our accommodation in Lisbon,
⭐️location⭐️ was
our top priority.
① We checked if the path from the train station
was manageable with luggage,
avoiding too many hills or cobblestones.
② We considered the ease of using public transportation
for city sightseeing and
for getting to Lisbon Airport on the last day.
+
And on top of that,
③ We carefully compared room cleanliness
and the safety of the surrounding area-!
Our return flight, Korean Air KE922✈️,
was scheduled to depart from
Lisbon Airport at 10:15 PM,
④ So we also checked in advance if luggage storage was available after checkout.
And so, the hotel we ultimately chose was the
Rossio Plaza Hotel
(Rossio Plaza Hotel)

R. Áurea 266, 1100-581 Lisboa, Portugal
To cut to the chase,
for our 3-night, 4-day stay,
the room condition was clean, and
for a pedestrian traveler like me, the location was unbeatable,
earning it a ⭐️huge thumbs-up⭐️!
This is Happy Record's review, paid for with my own money, starting now! ✍🏻

Why our Lisbon accommodation's location was perfect for city sightseeing
The hotel's location was truly excellent, allowing us to explore the city center on foot and use public transport for places further afield.

Looking at the map, Rossio Square and
the Santa Justa Lift are close to the hotel.
To the south,
Augusta Arch,
Praça do Comércio,
and the Lisbon Story Centre are clustered together.
São Jorge Castle to the east is on a hill,
so it's good to plan your route considering the uphill climb.
📍
I've also summarized how long it takes to walk from the hotel to
key public transportation points.
From the Hotel | Estimated Walk Time | Travel Route/Purpose |
Rossio Metro Station | Approx. 3 min | Station used when going to the airport |
Baixa-Chiado Station | Approx. 3 min | Exit towards Rua do Crucifixo |
Figueira Square | Approx. 4 min | Area for buses, 15E tram stop |
Praça do Comércio | Approx. 8 min | Square sightseeing and Lisbon Card pickup |
Martim Moniz Square | Approx. 9 min | Tram 28 starting point (terminus) |
✔️
To experience the famous
Lisbon Tram 28 and explore the city center,
we intentionally boarded at Martim Moniz,
its first stop.
According to the map, Martim Moniz Square is about a 9-minute walk from the hotel,
which was perfect for walking to the terminus stop early in the morning.

✔️
For places further from the city center,
like the Jerónimos Monastery in the Belém district,
the famous egg tart bakery Pastéis de Belém,
and Ajuda National Palace,
public transport is the way to go-!

✔️
The Lisbon Card can also be picked up
at Praça do Comércio.
Even when going to pick up the card,
Even when we went back to explore the square,
it was great that we could just walk from our accommodation.

✔️
When returning at night
the surrounding atmosphere was also important,
and since it's in the heart of the tourist area, the streets were brightly lit,
which meant we never felt scared
while we were out and about.

This was something I really considered
when choosing our accommodation,
so I was completely satisfied with this aspect too! ✨

From Santa Apolónia Station to the Hotel: What about Luggage?
We traveled from Porto
by CP train
and arrived at Lisbon's Santa Apolónia Station.
We then took the Blue Line (Az) Metro,
got off at Baixa-Chiado Station,
and walked with our luggage to the hotel.
(Approximately a 7-minute walk)

Fortunately, the cobblestone path we took
was relatively smooth,
so our luggage rolled easily,
and I remember it wasn't too difficult.

Later, looking at the map again,
from the Rua do Crucifixo exit,
it seems the hotel was only about a 3-minute walk away;
we must have taken a different exit,
and ended up walking a bit further. 😅
If you're traveling to the hotel with luggage,
it would be good to check for the Rua do Crucifixo direction
when you exit.
Rossio Plaza Hotel Rooms: Cleanliness and Size?
Both the room and the bathroom
were spotless and sparkling clean! ✨
Before booking, I checked reviews and ratings
on various platforms,
and as expected, the cleanliness truly impressed me!
Standard Double Room
The room size is stated as 16㎡.
It was perfectly adequate for spreading out our luggage,
and honestly, it didn't feel as cramped as I thought it might.
Since we were out exploring during the day anyway
and only came back to sleep,
the space didn't cause any inconvenience
for us at all!

The bathroom featured a shower space
separated by a glass door.
Next to the sink, there was a wall-mounted hairdryer,
and towels were neatly arranged on the shelf below.

Next to the bed, you'll find a mirror and a storage area with hangers.
By the window, there's a small round table and chair,
plus a coffee machine and cups, a safe,
and even a mini-fridge!
They truly have everything you need.

Important points for check-in
After checking in at Rossio Plaza Hotel,
we were assigned a room in the
adjacent building and moved there.

The building
required going up one floor by stairs
to access the elevator.
It was quite a unique setup.
At check-in, a staff member
carried our luggage upstairs for us,
and at check-out,
my partner carried it down.
It would be good to keep this in mind if you have large luggage!

From other Korean reviews,
I read that some received
a welcome Nata upon check-in,
and I was secretly hoping for one.
However, we didn't receive any, so
it was a slight disappointment.
Our assigned room was
on the same floor as the breakfast restaurant,
so we could hear the sounds of preparations
and people talking early in the morning;

Fortunately, we were planning to go out and sightsee
early in the morning anyway, so it wasn't a big issue,
but if we had planned to sleep in,
it probably would have bothered us.
If you're sensitive to morning noise,
it's a tip to try requesting a room
further away from the restaurant!
Free luggage storage before a night flight and airport transfer
After checking out,
we were able to store our luggage at the hotel for free.
Since our flight was at 10 PM,
we had quite a lot of time before departure,
and not having to drag our suitcases around
was incredibly convenient and wonderful.
When traveling abroad with my partner,
on days with late-night flights like this,
having the hotel store our luggage
is truly one of the most important factors ✨
And when going to the airport,
we used the subway to save on transportation costs.

Starting from Rossio Station
near the hotel,
it took approximately 30-40 minutes
to reach Aeroporto Station at the airport.
We only needed one transfer in between,
making it very convenient to travel to Lisbon Airport
on our last day-!
If I visit Lisbon again,
⭐️I would definitely revisit⭐️
For our trip, where we wanted to diligently explore Lisbon city
and then return to relax in a clean room,
the Rossio Plaza Hotel
was a perfect fit.
🇵🇹Happy Memories to be continued🇵🇹
