Les Appartements du Vieux Port is located right by the Old Port (Vieux Port), which is essentially the main stage for any Marseille itinerary. You can easily stroll down to the harbor, making it the ultimate location for your stay. Exploring the Old Port will easily make up half of your Marseille trip! In the mornings, you can enjoy a leisurely walk, check out the vibrant flower market, and browse the fresh fish stalls. In the evenings, it's the perfect spot to take in the stunning night views without having to travel far.

Proximity to public transit is also key, right? The Vieux-Port Metro station is just a quick 5 to 10-minute walk from the property. This made getting around Marseille an absolute breeze whenever we needed to hop on the metro (I'll be sharing a detailed guide on Marseille's public transit soon!).

The setup is exactly like an Airbnb—complete with a living room, kitchen, and bedroom—but check-in and check-out are handled like a traditional hotel at the front desk on the ground floor. The staff speaks excellent English, so communication is seamless. They were incredibly friendly and patient, making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

We received our physical key and a key fob. Note that there is a security deposit required upon arrival (payable by cash or card). I opted to pay in cash, and they provided a printed receipt. When you check out, simply hand back the receipt to get your cash deposit refunded instantly. Since card refunds can take a few days to process, I highly recommend using cash if you have it handy.
Also, keep in mind that France charges a city tax for accommodations. You'll need to pay this on-site as well (cards are accepted for this).

To reach the rooms, you'll need to head up these stairs. Since the rooms are in the same building as the front desk, you don't have to drag your luggage far, but there is no elevator—so be prepared to carry your bags up. It's a bit of a workout during check-in and check-out, but manageable. You use the physical key for your room door and the key fob for the main building entrance. There are light switches on each floor for the hallway, so be sure to turn them on for a safe climb up and down.

And we finally made it to our room! With plenty of windows, the space was flooded with natural light—much brighter than your average European accommodation. There were also nice floor lamps for the evening.
The room was incredibly clean. Even though it's an apartment-style setup, it's clearly maintained to high hotel standards.

There's a welcome guide in the room. If you don't speak French, just use the Google Translate app's camera feature—it's super helpful!

We didn't end up using it, but there was a nice flat-screen TV. Honestly, the place was so well-equipped it felt like walking into someone's actual home.

The living area features a comfy sofa and a large mirror.

The bedroom has a cozy double bed, and the sofa in the living room actually converts into a sofa bed. Because it's a large sofa, it pulls out to be almost the size of a standard double bed.
You can tell just by looking that the bedding is crisp, clean, and fresh.

The bedroom also has a door leading out to a small balcony. It's a tiny space, but it offers a genuinely charming and picturesque view of the neighborhood.

Here is the apartment's kitchen. It's fully equipped for cooking, with all the necessary utensils tucked away in the drawers under the dining table.

You'll find plenty of tableware, along with a toaster and an electric kettle.

There's a refrigerator, but keep in mind that the wine inside is not complimentary—so maybe avoid opening it unless you plan to pay! There's also bottled water, but I usually prefer buying my own. There's a convenient small mart right next to the property, and a larger Carrefour supermarket about a 10 to 15-minute walk away (I highly recommend Carrefour if you want to stock up on fresh fruits and veggies). I'm a total sparkling water fanatic, and since it's incredibly cheap in Europe, I drank it like crazy during our stay!

The coffee capsules are also available for a fee. Just check the price list on the dining table before brewing a cup.

The bathroom was spotless. It features a modern sink and a stand-up shower, with the toilet located just adjacent to where I took the photo. If I had to point out one minor downside, the water pressure was a bit weak. It didn't bother me much since I'm not overly picky, but if strong water pressure is a dealbreaker for you, it's something to keep in mind.

Overall, I highly recommend this accommodation for families or anyone who loves having a kitchen but might be hesitant to book a standard Airbnb. Having a front desk gives you the peace of mind of a hotel, perfectly blending the best of both worlds. If you have any questions about this stay, drop a comment below and I'll be sure to reply! Check-in is available from 3:00 PM and takes place at the front desk on the ground floor. The deposit can be paid by both cash and card, but since card cancellations take time, it is recommended to pay in cash and get it refunded upon check-out by presenting your proof of payment.
The Vieux-Port metro station at the Old Port is a 5 to 10-minute walk from the accommodation, making public transportation easily accessible. Carrefour, a large supermarket great for grocery shopping, is located a 10 to 15-minute walk away.
There is no elevator in the accommodation, so you must carry your luggage yourself using the stairs. There are switches to turn on the hallway lights on each floor, so it is recommended to turn them on and move safely.
The wine in the kitchen refrigerator and the capsule coffee on the dining table are provided at an additional cost, so please check the price list before using them. The bathroom is kept clean, but please note that the water pressure is somewhat weak.
