Last autumn, when the weather was absolutely perfect,
I planned a family trip to Gyeongju with my parents-in-law.

Honestly, when you are traveling with parents,
choosing the right accommodation is always the trickiest part, isn't it?

I spent ages debating between booking a cozy Airbnb, a traditional Hanok stay,
or a modern hotel. In the end, I figured a full-service hotel
would offer the smoothest experience for the parents, so I booked
Lahan Select Gyeongju.

And the verdict? It was incredibly comfortable!
If you are currently planning a multi-generational family trip to Gyeongju
and feeling stressed about where to stay,
I highly recommend checking this place out.

1. Location & Accessibility
A peaceful retreat that is still close to all the main sights
Lahan Select Gyeongju is situated right on the edge of Bomun Lake,
making it super convenient to reach the historic downtown area,
Cheomseongdae Observatory, and the trendy Hwangridan-gil.

For this family trip, we wanted a bit of nostalgia,
so we visited the iconic Bulguksa Temple.
The hotel was in a perfect spot for that drive too—
not too far, and very scenic.

The drive around the lake is beautiful and relaxing.
Most importantly, there is plenty of parking space,
and the transition from the lobby to the rooms is very smooth,
which made moving luggage and walking around very easy for the parents.

Another huge plus was the proximity to the Bomun Tourist Complex food scene.
While hotel dining is convenient, it can get repetitive, right?
Fortunately, within a quick 5-minute drive,
there are tons of incredible local Korean restaurants,
so we never had to worry about finding a great meal.
2. The Rooms

My husband and I stayed in one room, and my parents-in-law stayed in another.
We booked two adjacent rooms, both with lake views.

The room size and bed layout were excellent,
and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious.

It was perfect for two people.
Pro tip: You absolutely must book the lake view!
Waking up to the calm waters of Bomun Lake
is pure therapy.

The lighting in the room was warm and relaxing,
and the bathroom featured both a tub and a separate shower stall,
with a very generous vanity area.

I heard that this property used to be the old Hyundai Hotel
before undergoing a massive renovation.
While it might not feel like a brand-new ultra-modern build,
it is exceptionally clean, well-maintained,
and classic.
Who do I recommend this to?
Gyeongju is such a popular travel destination,
so there is no shortage of boutique stays, Airbnbs, and hotels.

I spent hours reading reviews from other travelers before settling on this one,
and I paid for this stay entirely out of my own pocket.
The overall satisfaction rate among guests is incredibly high for a reason.
Having adjacent rooms allowed us to stay close enough to look after the parents,
while still enjoying our own private space to unwind at night.
It really was the best of both worlds.

For parents, the predictability and comfort of a reliable hotel
just can't be beaten.
If you are looking for a peaceful, upscale, and stress-free stay
to pamper your family, this hotel is a fantastic choice.

The pricing is also very reasonable.
While rates fluctuate depending on the room type and season,
we booked our rooms for around ~$115 to ~$140 per night.
If you compare rates across different booking platforms,
you can easily find some great deals!
Comparing Hotel Prices
(I usually compare Agoda and Hotels.com)
But I almost always end up booking on Agoda—
when you factor in all the final taxes and fees, they usually have the best rate.

Once you lock in your destination and your hotel, the hardest part of trip planning is done!
I actually booked this place first to secure the rooms and then looked up the reviews,
and I was so relieved to see how highly everyone spoke of it.
If I ever plan another family trip to Gyeongju,
I would 100% book this hotel again.
Prices vary depending on the travel season and room type, but you can usually book a room for between ~$115 and ~$141 per night. We recommend comparing booking platforms like Agoda and Hotels.com before making a reservation.
Located right next to Bomun Lake, it offers excellent accessibility to major tourist attractions such as Hwangridan-gil, Cheomseongdae, and Bulguksa Temple. Additionally, it is very convenient for dining, as many great restaurants in the Bomun Tourist Complex are clustered within a 5-minute drive.
Parking is very convenient as there is ample space in both the above-ground and underground parking lots. The route from the lobby to the guest rooms is also comfortable, making it easy to move around and carry luggage for the elderly.
We highly recommend a lake view room where you can relax while looking at Bomun Lake in the morning. Inside the room, there is a spacious vanity along with both a bathtub and a shower booth, allowing for a clean and comfortable use.
