Today, I'm excited to introduce you to Kutná Hora, one of the small towns near Prague that I've personally visited, and it's both the most unique and the closest!
I recommend Kutná Hora for a day trip from Prague for two main reasons:
1. It's the closest (just 1 hour by train!)
2. It's truly unique
The most iconic attractions in Kutná Hora are undoubtedly
the Sedlec Ossuary (Bone Church) and St. Barbara's Cathedral.
I've visited many cathedrals and churches during my travels in Europe,
but it's rare to find anything as unique as Kutná Hora's Sedlec Ossuary.
Plus, Kutná Hora is just a 2-hour round trip by train from Prague,
which is incredibly close compared to Cesky Krumlov (6 hours by bus) or Karlovy Vary (4 hours by train).
This makes it absolutely perfect for a day trip if you're on a tight schedule!
While Kutná Hora might be a bit unfamiliar to many Koreans,
it's already a popular spot for international travelers.
Here are the top three places you absolutely must visit!

Welcome to the Sedlec Ossuary, home to the remains of 40,000 people!
This place is also known as Kutná Hora's "Bone Church."
Legend has it that because the church was built on sacred soil brought from Jerusalem,
many of Prague's elite in the past wished to be buried here.
However, after the plague and Hussite Wars, over 40,000 human remains were interred here,
and astonishingly, about a quarter of them were used to adorn the chapel.
When you first step inside, the sight is quite striking,
and even in broad daylight, it can feel a little eerie.
It's incredibly grotesque, with even the chandeliers crafted from actual human bones, but that's precisely what makes it so distinctive and absolutely worth seeing at least once!

St. Barbara's Cathedral, designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Kutná Hora was a former silver mining town,
so it's said the cathedral was named after the patron saint of miners.
Its exterior is unique, resembling three overturned tents,
and the soaring Gothic spires were truly impressive.
Unlike other cathedrals, the interior is decorated with black marble and gold,
making it quite dark yet splendid at the same time.
And get this – all the church chairs have different designs!
Perched on a high hill, the cathedral offers panoramic views of Kutná Hora,
and it's a spot where your photos will turn out beautifully!
If you're in Kutná Hora, I highly recommend visiting this place after the Bone Church!
