Where should I stay during my Ulleungdo trip?
I spent so much time agonizing over this decision.
While looking for accommodation options in Ulleungdo,
one place completely caught my eye.
It was none other than the "Healing Stay KOSMOS Resort."
Once I saw this place,
no other hotel could even compare...
It left me wondering, "Can a place this beautiful really exist on Ulleungdo?"
filled with sheer awe and amazement.
Let's dive straight into the review!
Location & Getting There
📍 KOSMOS Ulleungdo
88-13 Chusan-gil, Buk-myeon, Ulleung-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea
I took the overnight ferry from Pohang
and arrived in Ulleungdo bright and early in the morning.
I was worried about lugging my heavy luggage around
right after stepping off the ferry,
but thankfully, the resort runs a port shuttle bus,
making the transfer incredibly smooth and easy.
Reservations are required for the shuttle bus,
so make sure to contact them in advance!
(The schedule may change depending on weather conditions,
so always double-check ahead of time.)
Since the resort is located quite high up,
first-time visitors might be a bit surprised
by how steep the drive up is!
Check-in & First Impressions
Standard check-in is between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM,
but since I had arrived in the morning,
the staff actually reached out to me first
and said if the previous guest checked out early,
they could accommodate an early check-in!
Seriously, they were so kind and thoughtful :)
If you plan to check in after 5:00 PM,
you must contact them in advance,
so keep that in mind if you have a late arrival.
Check-out is by 10:00 AM the next day.
I was a little surprised because the front desk was smaller than expected.
But given that the resort has only a limited number of rooms,
it felt perfectly adequate and intimate. haha
Deluxe Twin Room
Even the room key is so cute! haha
We stayed in a Deluxe Twin room featuring two spacious queen-size beds!
The room was absolutely massive!
Finding a room of this scale on Ulleungdo
made me gasp the second I walked in.
There was a beautiful traditional tea set for brewing tea along with some local snacks,
and if you walk down the short hallway next to the bed area,
you'll find a separate vanity and sink station.
And yes, it comes equipped with a Dyson supersonic hair dryer!
The Wi-Fi signal was strong and fast,
and they provide full amenities, including toothbrushes and toothpaste.

The View & Night Light Show
Because of its high elevation,
the view of the Ulleungdo ocean
stretching out from the resort is absolutely breathtaking.
Just opening the window reveals an endless, wide-open sea
unfolding right before your eyes.
While it's absolutely gorgeous during the day,
you can also catch a stunning sunrise in the morning.
And once night falls,
the resort puts on a fantastic night light show.
Honestly, this was way cooler than I expected!!
When you travel all the way to Ulleungdo, it’s amazing to have
such great entertainment right here at the resort
without having to venture out in the dark.
Taking an evening stroll and wrapping it up with the light show
totally doubled my overall experience and satisfaction.
Traditional Korean Breakfast Table (Bansang)
Breakfast is served at Restaurant Raul on the 1st floor
from 08:00 to 09:00.
Instead of a typical buffet, it's served as a traditional Korean individual table (Bansang).
They use local wild herbs and specialty ingredients from Ulleungdo,
making it super healthy and easy on the stomach!!
If you find heavy, greasy food a bit too much in the morning,
this clean, wholesome style will be absolutely perfect for you.
The quality of the breakfast exceeded my expectations.
The price is:
Ages 12 and older: ~$45 per person,
Ages 4 to 11: ~$22,
Ages 3 and under: Free.
Honestly, it is a bit on the pricier side,
but considering it's a curated Korean table featuring local specialty ingredients from Ulleungdo,
it felt completely worth it.

Accommodation on Ulleungdo tends to be on the pricier side,
so using this coupon can make a huge difference.
If you align your trip with the event dates, you can book it for a much better price,
so definitely take advantage of it!

A Few Cons
It’s true that the breakfast price (~$45 per person)
can feel like a bit of a splurge.
However, the traditional Korean meal featuring seasonal local ingredients
is incredibly high quality and worth trying at least once!
If you know you want breakfast,
booking a room package that already includes breakfast
tends to be a slightly cheaper way to go.
Also, as a heads-up, the resort is in a fairly secluded area,
so you will definitely need a car if you want to go out and explore haha.
Overall Verdict
Finding a resort of this caliber on Ulleungdo
is incredibly rare.
With spacious rooms, breathtaking views, exceptionally friendly staff,
and even a nighttime light show,
I can confidently say it’s one of the absolute best luxury accommodations on the island!!
