Khun Kae's Juice Bar Chiang Mai Review: Best Smoothie Bowls in Old Town

When traveling around Chiang Mai, there comes a moment when you crave something light, fresh, and vibrant to balance out all the rich, savory Thai dishes like Pad Thai and Tom Yum.
When that craving hits, the number one spot recommended by both locals and travelers is Khun Kae's Juice Bar in the historic Old Town.
This beloved local joint is famous for serving up fresh, sugar-free smoothie bowls packed with tropical goodness at incredibly budget-friendly prices.
During my recent 2026 trip, it was just a quick 5-minute walk from my accommodation at the Tibid Lanna Hotel, so I ended up visiting multiple times. Here is my honest, updated review of this Chiang Mai staple.

Location & General Info

Khun Kae's Juice Bar is tucked away in a charming alley inside the Chiang Mai Old Town.
The exact address is 19/3 Moon Muang Road Soi 7, making it exceptionally easy to reach on foot from Tha Phae Gate and other major temples in the center.
Opening hours are from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM.

Please note that they are closed every Friday.
Since early morning breakfast spots can be surprisingly hard to find in Chiang Mai, their 9:00 AM opening time is perfect for an early brunch. However, because of its stellar reputation, it fills up fast. If you want to skip the queue, I highly recommend arriving right at opening time.
Smoothie Bowl Menu & Prices

What keeps people coming back is their commitment to quality. They don't use any artificial syrups or sugars—just 100% pure, natural fruit sweetness.
✅ Cold-Pressed Juices — starting at 50 THB (approx. $1.50)
✅ Smoothie Bowls — 95 THB (approx. $3.00)
✅ Fresh Fruit Platters & Salads
If you love clean, refreshing fruit flavors without artificial sweeteners, this menu is absolute paradise.
Cafe Vibe vs. Grab Delivery

Khun Kae's Juice Bar has a rustic, cozy local cafe vibe, but the space is quite small. There are only about 4 to 5 tables inside, along with a narrow bar and a couple of small seats outside.
Because every order is prepared fresh on the spot, you might have to wait 20 to 30 minutes during the morning rush. If you have a packed itinerary, this wait might feel a bit long. I tried ordering via Grab delivery one morning to compare, and there were some notable differences:

✅ Price Difference — While a smoothie bowl is 95 THB (approx. $3.00) in the shop, it costs about 35 THB (approx. $1.00) more on the Grab app. When you add the delivery fee, it loses some of its budget-friendly appeal.

✅ Ordering Hours — The physical cafe opens at 9:00 AM, but Grab delivery orders only open from 11:00 AM. This means you can't get it delivered for an early breakfast.
Most importantly, the smoothie base melts slightly during delivery. Even if you have to wait a little, I highly recommend dining in to enjoy the fresh, beautifully presented bowls at their best!
My Pick: The Mixed Berry Smoothie Bowl

On my previous visit, I tried their signature Mango Smoothie Bowl. This time, I wanted something ultra-refreshing, so I opted for the Mixed Berry Smoothie Bowl (95 THB, approx. $3.00).
To sum it up: it was absolutely incredible. I could easily eat this every single day.
✅ A thick, blended berry base is generously topped with fresh avocado, papaya, mango, dragon fruit, crunchy nuts, and crispy coconut chips.

While the Mango Smoothie Bowl offers a rich, creamy, and sweet tropical taste, the Mixed Berry Bowl delivers a bright, tart, and light flavor profile without any artificial sweetness.
It cools you down instantly in the hot Chiang Mai weather and leaves you feeling clean and energized. It's surprisingly filling too, making it the perfect light meal.
Summary & Honest Verdict

✔️ Go for the Mango Smoothie Bowl if you want sweet and creamy; choose the Mixed Berry Smoothie Bowl for a tart and refreshing treat.
✔️ Keep in mind they are closed every Friday.
✔️ Grab delivery costs about 35 THB (approx. $1.00) more and is only available after 11:00 AM, so dining in-store is highly recommended.
✔️ Expect a 20-30 minute wait during peak morning hours as everything is made fresh to order.
✔️ Excellent location—just a 5-minute walk from Tibid Lanna Hotel and major spots in Chiang Mai Old Town.
