Uncover Kamala's Boutique Guesthouse, an amazing value stay near Chiang Mai's Tha Phae Gate. Spacious rooms, prime Old City location – perfect for budget adventurers.

During my three-week adventure in Chiang Mai, I found myself hopping between a few different accommodations. It's all part of the fun, right?
Among them, I stumbled upon a fantastic value stay near the iconic Tha Phae Gate that I just had to share: Kamala's Boutique Guesthouse. Even for just a quick overnight, it truly impressed me.

1. My Accommodation Priorities
When I'm picking a place to stay, location and price are always at the top of my list. And honestly, price usually wins out! ⭐
Especially when I'm out exploring all day, I find I don't actually spend a huge amount of time in my room. So, I prefer a spot that's comfortable for a quick rest and perfectly situated, rather than something overly pricey.

2. Kamala's Boutique Guesthouse Location
Tha Phae Gate is more than just a landmark; it's the quintessential eastern entrance to Chiang Mai's Old City. It's a fantastic hub for exploring everything the Old City has to offer, making nearby accommodations highly sought after!
Kamala's Boutique Guesthouse is tucked away down a quiet alley, just a stone's throw from Tha Phae Gate itself.

You're literally only about 328 feet (100 meters) from Tha Phae Gate, which means a leisurely 2-minute walk! Since it's nestled slightly off the main road in an alley, it was surprisingly quiet despite being so central. A peaceful retreat amidst the city buzz!
For anyone planning to explore Chiang Mai's Old City, this guesthouse offers an incredibly convenient base.

Check-in is at 2:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM.
It seemed like many guests here were staying for longer periods, perhaps even for a 'month-long' Chiang Mai experience! They even offer a laundry service for just 50 Baht per kilogram.

And to top it off, there's a self-service station with welcome drinks and snacks available for guests.

3. Booking a Superior Double/Twin Room
I was assigned a room on the first floor. Initially, I was a little surprised, but it turned out to be a blessing!
Many older buildings in Chiang Mai, especially guesthouses, don't have elevators. Not having to lug my suitcase up and down stairs was a huge plus! It actually made me realize how lucky I was to get a first-floor room.
Another thing that truly won me over was the price!
I booked a Superior Double/Twin Room on the morning of my stay, and it was only ~$16 for one night.
That's an incredibly affordable price, especially for such a spacious room. I was genuinely satisfied!
Prices can vary depending on your travel dates and when you book. Often, booking in advance can score you an even better deal than I got!
If your travel plans are set, it's always smart to check accommodation prices early to help keep your travel budget in check. ⭐

4. Room Condition
My room came with two complimentary bottles of water and a mini-fridge, and it felt incredibly spacious right from the entrance!

I was hoping for a large bed, but I ended up with twin beds. At first, I was a little disappointed, but then I realized it was actually perfect! I could use one bed as my workspace for my laptop and keep all my stuff organized (or not so organized!), and then enjoy a super comfy sleep on the other. It was a pleasant surprise!

And seriously, the room was HUGE! It felt almost too big for just one person, but having all that space was definitely a luxury.

It felt like there was a separate bedroom and living area, making it feel even more expansive.

Beyond the sleeping area, there was this incredible 'living room' space. It was so big, you could practically throw a dance party in there! Haha!

If I had been with friends, this would have been the perfect spot for some fun travel reels!

The bathroom, considering it's an older building, was surprisingly well-maintained and quite clean.

And I have to talk about these slippers in the room... they were SO incredibly comfortable that I asked the owner where she bought them! She said they were from Shopee, an online marketplace similar to Temu. ㅠㅠ I was so disappointed I couldn't buy them right then and there! 🥹

5. Highly Recommended for an Affordable Tha Phae Gate Stay
I noticed this guesthouse seemed to attract more Western travelers than Asian guests.
It definitely felt like a popular spot for longer-term stays, perhaps even for those enjoying a 'month in Chiang Mai' type of trip.
The owner was incredibly friendly, which always makes a stay more pleasant! ><
I initially booked just one night, and after seeing how great it was, I wanted to extend my stay. Unfortunately, they were fully booked for the next few days, so I couldn't stay longer. 🥲
But being able to share this gem with others looking for an affordable, value-for-money guesthouse in Chiang Mai makes me happy! ⭐
It's super convenient to Tha Phae Gate, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the owner was wonderfully kind!
If you're planning your Chiang Mai adventure and searching for a well-located, budget-friendly place to stay, definitely consider Kamala's Boutique Guesthouse near Tha Phae Gate!
