Nestled near the lovely Jangdae Park, which was abloom with cherry blossoms, the church looked even more picturesque.

The parish was established in 1969, and the current church building was newly constructed in 2014.
I took a stroll around the exterior of the church. The brickwork and the color of the roof created a wonderfully harmonious and beautiful sight.

A photo on the wall seemed to depict the church's earlier appearance, offering a glimpse into its past.

After greeting the statue of the Virgin Mary, I continued my walk around the church, eventually noticing the weekly bulletin.

While exploring the church, I had a serendipitous encounter with a nun. When she learned I was visiting from Gwangju, she graciously offered to show me around the various parts of the church.

The interior of the church was equally stunning. It had a distinct feel, almost reminiscent of European cathedrals, and the stained-glass windows were particularly captivating.

The dome-shaped ceiling, combined with the beautifully shimmering stained glass illuminated by the sunlight, truly left me speechless with its beauty.

Even the entrance doors of the church were uniquely designed and beautiful, so I made sure to capture them in a photograph.
The Adoration Chapel
Near the church entrance, we found the Adoration Chapel. The nun informed me that this sacred space is always open for visitors.

In Catholicism, the Eucharist (Holy Communion) symbolizes the body of Jesus Christ. When worshippers receive the Eucharist during Mass, it signifies their direct acceptance of Christ's body, achieving spiritual unity with Him and internalizing His presence. The Mass itself is a reenactment of Jesus' Last Supper, where He shared bread and wine, symbolizing His body and blood.

This always-open Adoration Chapel provides a tranquil space for personal prayer or quiet contemplation.

After visiting the Adoration Chapel, I bid farewell to the nun and left the church, feeling a deep sense of peace.
My Takeaway: A Must-Visit in Suncheon
Suncheon's Jogokdong Catholic Church is truly a place where you can witness even more breathtaking scenery when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. With Jangdae Park right next to the church, it's also an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll. If you're planning a trip to Suncheon, I highly recommend stopping by Jogokdong Catholic Church.
